Coming to California

Emhoff himself earned a BA in Communications and Media Studies from California State University in 1987, before getting a J.D. from University of Southern California Gould School of Law, in 1990. Emhoff was born in New York but moved to California for college.
Fighting for the Downtrodden
Emhoff specializes in commercial litigation, as well as advertising and marketing litigation, and has often represented clients who were in a David vs. Goliath type of situation. Needless to say, with Emhoff being an idealist, he chose to work for the Davids in each case. He was a name partner at his firm, Whitwell Jacoby Emhoff LLP, and has also worked for Belin Rawlings & Badal, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, and Bingham McCutchen LLP. Currently, Emhoff is the Managing Director in the West Coast, for Venable LLP and oversees the firm’s offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco. He represents clients across a wide variety of industries, including media and entertainment, digital media, production, advertising, technology, hospitality, and character licensing.
Playing by the Rules
Douglas Emhoff’s net worth is not known, but he and Harris released their 2015 tax returns in October 2016 which show that the couple earned $1.17 million that year. They paid nearly $450,000 in state and federal income taxes. The couple is involved in philanthropy and the documents show that they donated $32,947 to charity, including $10,000 just to UNICEF! Blind Date Leads to Love
People are curious to know how the two met. Emhoff and Harris first met on a blind date that was arranged by one of Harris’ friends! Emhoff proposed to Harris about a year later in her apartment, with a diamond and platinum engagement ring. They decided to get married within six months of their engagement, as Kamala Harris does not like long engagements. Douglas Emhoff’s wedding had his sister-in-law, Maya Harris, conduct the ceremony. Though they are happily married, the couple are engaged in doing what they love the most: Making America a better place to work and live!
