Stacey Dash Got Her Big Break in Clueless
Stacey Dash, born in the Bronx on January 20, 1967, has mixed African-American and Mexican-American heritage. Her brother, Darien Dash, founded DME Interactive, reportedly the first publicly traded African-American-led Internet company, and her cousin is music mogul Damon Dash.
Dash debuted in an NBC pilot that wasn’t picked up, and had an appearance on The Cosby Show. Her first major roles came in CBS’ TV 101 and in the 1988 comedy movie, Moving.
But it was 1995’s coming-of-age cult classic, Clueless, that would be her big break. She played Dionne Davenport, Cher’s fellow wealthy teen. Dash would reprise the role in the 1996 TV spinoff, until it ended its run in 1999.

Her later works include appearances in CSI and View from the Top, among others. She was a recurring character on CW’s The Game and starred in VH1’s Single Ladies. She also appeared in Carl Thomas’ music video for “Emotional” and Kanye West’s “All Falls Down.”

Dash, who once bared it all for Playboy, also ventured into the fashion business, launching her lingerie line, Letters of Marque, in 2008. To make sure the focus was on her designs and not on herself, Dash made the rounds at trade shows and promoted the romantic boudoir creations in her own booth.

Dash is currently married to an attorney, Jeffrey Marty, who runs a parody Twitter account for a fake congressman, Steven Smith. This account got attention when President Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, retweeted the non-existent congressman’s endorsement of Trump.
On September 29, Dash called 911 claiming Marty had attacked her during an argument. When police arrived, they found that Dash had pushed and slapped Marty and arrested her on domestic battery charges.

She was taken into custody and her bail was set at $500.00. Ironically, Marty posted her bail.
Dash claims she acted in self-defense when Marty allegedly tried to choke her. On Wednesday, she pleaded not guilty to attacking her husband and is fighting the domestic battery charges against her in court.
The problem—she can’t afford her own defense attorney. In a separate court filing, she claimed to be indigent and in need of a public defender, who filed her formal plea and requests a jury trial.
