He reportedly left school during his third year to play semi-professional football in Austria. But Babel says that if he didn’t have a football or entertainment news career, he’d be pursuing his academic interests.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Babel considered going to law school and was even preparing for the LSATs. But he wasn’t sure if that was what he truly wanted to do.
At that time, a spot on the Canadian network MuchMusic presented itself. He bagged the opportunity and started his career as a VJ and host on the network.
As a VJ, he chatted with artists like Mariah Carey, Sean Combs, Coldplay, James Blunt, Pink, and more. He even had an appearance in Degrassi: The Next Generation and counts his costar Drake among his friends.
He went on to host Canada Sings, a reality competition for glee clubs that had Vanilla Ice among its judges. He was also a regular fixture on ET Canada until 2018.
He’s recently switched to music management, marketing, and branding and works with Drake’s Dream Crew.

Babel and Mitchell Have Been Dating Since 2017
When Babel was still a reporter with ET Canada, reports circulated that he was dating Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell. Soon, they were featuring in each other’s Instagram posts.
They were romantically linked for a long time, though there was no confirmation of them dating. Then Mitchell started 2019 by revealing that she’d suffered a miscarriage sometime in 2018.
