Jessie fans are still reeling from the shocking death of Cameron Boyce on July 6, 2019 at the age of 20. The young actor passed away due to a seizure related to an “ongoing medical condition,” according to his family. Since his death, many celebrities who knew him, like Adam Sandler, have expressed their grief. Noticeably silent was the titular Jessie, aka Debby Ryan. The Internet began to believe something had happened to Ryan. Pretty soon, rumors started to circulate that Ryan had suffered from a heart attack soon after news of Boyce’s death broke. But is this true or is Debby Ryan the victim of a hoax again? We’ve set the record straight.

Did Debby Ryan Have a Heart Attack?

After news of Cameron Boyce’s tragic passing broke, Debby Ryan (born May 13, 1993) seemingly processed the grief by herself. But Jessie fans were anticipating her response to her costar’s death.

Amid Ryan’s continued silence, the Internet appeared to have gotten antsy. Soon, there were rumors circulating the cybersphere that Ryan was in a hospital after she allegedly suffered a heart attack.

Some rumors also claimed that it wasn’t a heart attack but anxiety upon learning about Boyce’s passing, and that she had to be hospitalized for it. However, there’s no confirmation of these rumors.

Her latest social media activity also indicates she’s relatively fine and there’s no apparent health scare.

Debby Ryan’s Posts First Response to Boyce’s Death

It isn’t uncommon for someone to take their time to grieve a beloved coworker’s death. However, Ryan’s apparent lack of response to Boyce’s death had led to the spread of disinformation about her.

Meanwhile, other Jessie stars, including Skai Jackson, Kevin Chamberlin, and Peyton List, were among the celebrities mourning Boyce on social media. Fans also flooded their pages with messages of condolences.

The expressions of sympathy and comments demanding she publicly address Boyce’s death may have been too much for Ryan. So, Ryan turned off the comments on her latest Instagram posts.

Her supporters have even slammed people for being insensitive to her while she’s mourning privately. Others have urged the public to put an end to the unsubstantiated heart attack rumor.

As of early Sunday, July 7, Ryan had not yet spoken directly about Boyce. However, that evening, she changed her Instagram profile picture, in an apparent tribute to Boyce.

She also shared clips of Boyce delivering an inspiring speech in her Instagram stories. “It’s crazy. We can tweet whatever we want and we can use social media and Instagram and make the world a better place instead of a worse one, which so many people use it for,” Boyce says in the video.

Ryan’s message sharing Boyce’s video could be aimed at the insensitive comments and false rumors about her. And it wouldn’t be the first time she’s been the victim of an Internet hoax.

Debby Ryan Was the Victim of a Death Hoax

Back in 2016, Debby Ryan’s fans flooded social media with RIP messages. But that was actually a case of gross mistaken identity.

It happened when iconic actress Debbie Reynolds passed away the day after her daughter, Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher’s death. People were still coming to terms with the shocking number of beloved celebrity deaths that year and mistakenly thought the Jessie star had died.

After much RIP confusion, Debby Ryan took to Twitter to say that it was not her but Reynolds who had passed away.

Reynolds had been taken to a hospital when she suffered a stroke, before later passing away. That 2016 death hoax seems to have played into Ryan’s false health scare this time.

Ryan has once again been subjected to a hoax, and at a very sad time for her. Many of her fans have defended her right to get through this difficult time at her own pace.
