Stefanie Sherk’s Death Has Been Ruled a Suicide
Canadian model and actress Stefanie Sherk was born in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Multiple outlets have reported her age at death as 43. She’s most familiar for her role on #Hashtag: The Series.
Her husband, Demián Bichir, revealed on his official Instagram page that Sherk had passed away on April 20. The heartbreaking post did not reveal the circumstances surrounding her death.
However, details about Sherk’s cause of death emerged days later. The L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled her death as suicide by drowning. Further details are awaited.
Bichir confirmed the cause of death in a series of Instagram posts later. He revealed that Sherk had been suffering from depression for a long time.
He followed it up with another post slamming the paparazzi camping outside his home while they are grieving her death.
Sherk Moved to the U.S. for Her Career
Stefanie Sherk was born in Ontario, Canada to Rick Sherk and Susan Sherk, a retired nurse. She has a brother, Daniel, who is married to Maureen Sherk.
Sherk was fluent in French and English as well as Japanese.
Her career brought her to the U.S. where she worked as a model, actress, and producer. She appeared in TV shows, movies, and short films, including the CSI spinoff, CSI: Cyber. She appeared in the upcoming Grudge movie slated to release in 2020, which stars Bichir.

Sherk reportedly studied history at the University of Western Ontario, spending her third year abroad in the United Kingdom. There, she studied at the University of London.

Sherk Had Been with Bichir Since 2011
Mexican-born Demián Bichir was previously married to the Mexican singer-actress Lisset Gutiérrez from 2001 to 2003. He’s father to a daughter, Gala, from another relationship.
Sherk and Bichir’s relationship began in 2011, the same year Gala was born. They apparently married later, though the date is not known.
The couple had been each other’s date to every red carpet, even as recently as September 2018 for the premiere of Bichir’s film, The Nun.
