The 21-year-old was born Bruna Reis Maia in Duque de Caxias, a city in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her parents, Telmo Maia and Neide Maia, raised her and her sister, Luana in Duque de Caxias. She changed her last name to Marquezine, as a tribute to her grandmother.
Marquezine was only five years old when she was discovered by Brazilian director, Cininha de Paula, who saw her in a commercials with Xuxa, a presenter, and invited the young Marquezine to star as Salette in the primetime telenovela, Mulheres Apaixonadas. Since portraying the sweet Salette, she became famous in every household in Brazil.
By the age of 15, Marquezine had acted in several telenovelas like América, Cobras & Lagartos, Desejo Proibido, Negócio da China, Araguaia, Aquele Beijo, and Salve Jorge. Her breakthrough role was playing the protagonist of Em Familia, which aired on Globo Television. Her sister, Luana, made her acting debut on the same show.
