You probably recognize Emeraude Toubia from the Freeform series, Shadowhunters. She’s also famous for her super cute romance with Prince Royce, the reigning heartthrob at the Latin American Music Awards 2017.

#1. Toubia is Proud of Her Heritage
Born in Canada, Toubia was raised in Texas by her Mexican mother and Lebanese father. She takes great pride in her heritage and is always striving to break the stereotypes surrounding Latinas.
Toubia said, “A lot of the media out there have a stereotype of what a Latina is and Latinas have different hair color, different skin types, different body shapes.” She continued, “But we are multidimensional, we’re not one-size-fits-all. I really want to get that message out there so that everyone can know the true beauty of Latinas and what truly defines us is not our beauty or what we look like physically. What defines us is our pride for our culture and our pride for our family. That’s what makes us a Latina, not how we look physically.”
The actress is also all about family, as she describes a time when her mother visited her on her Canadian film set. She got a bit teary-eyed describing her mother’s happiness seeing her fulfill her dreams.
#2. Toubia Started Young
From a young age, Toubia was into performing. She took up classical ballet, flamenco, belly dance, and lyrical dance. At the age of 10, she already secured a screen presence in El Mundo de los Niños, a children’s program on Televisa.
By the time she was 15, Toubia competed in beauty pageants and was crowned Miss South Texas, Miss Rio Grande Valley America, and Miss Teen Brownsville. She gained attention in 2008 when she was selected to participate in the beauty pageant series, Nuestra Belleza Latina, and was voted first runner-up. The Univision series follows the young participants undergoing rigorous training for acting, presenting, dancing, and other activities.
The following year, Toubia finished fifth in Model Latina and was a semifinalist in Miss Texas USA 2010. She was also a presenter in music and entertainment shows like The Arena, 18 & Over, and mun2POP on NBC Universo.
Her acting debut came with the youth telenovela 11-11: En Mi Cuadra Nada Cuadra on Nickelodeon Latin America. She went on to act in more telenovelas until she decided to pursue her dream “to be in Hollywood and maybe star next to Ryan Gosling.” So, she passed up a steady gig in telenovelas and moved to L.A.
Toubia landed her big break in the Shadowhunter, starring as Isabelle Lightwood in the Freeform fantasy series. She plays a half-human, half-angel Shadowhunter, alongside Katherine McNamara and Matthew Daddario.
The show is based on The Mortal Instruments books by Cassandra Clare, and recently wrapped up seasons 2 and 3, which is set to premiere in 2018.
#3. Wedding Bells Around the Corner?
Emeraude Toubia and Prince Royce have been together since 2011, and according to the 28-year-old actress, she met him a long time ago. Although they’ve been together for a while, have been spotted together numerous times, and were each other’s dates to red carpet events in the past, they didn’t confirm their relationship until last year.
Back in 2013, Toubia downplayed her relationship with the Latin music sensation saying that his girlfriends are his beautiful fans. They soon finally confirmed their very obvious romance.
Toubia explained how they met saying, “We met at a restaurant with other friends a long time ago.” She added, “He wanted to meet another girl, but I got there first!”
The actress and singer balance their relationship amid hectic schedules and said, “It’s really nice to have a relationship and the person that you’re with supports you and is with you at all times.”
And it looks like they might be walking down the aisle soon! Prince Royce reportedly gave his long-time girlfriend a ring valued at $100,000 back in June. Toubia was spotted wearing the sparkler on her ring finger at a night out in L.A. with her rumored new fiancé.
Emeraude Toubia and Prince Royce have yet to make an official announcement about their engagement. But considering how long the couple made us wait to announce their relationship, we could be waiting a while!
