You’ve probably seen Karrueche Tran’s name pop up in the news lately, but what do you actually know about her? We’ve got the 411 on Tran, so keep reading below.
Karrueche Tran’s name has been floating around ever since she first dated rapper Chris Brown. But Tran has always had a life and career outside of Brown and should be known for her own accomplishments, not just Karrueche Tran and Chris Brown’s relationship. To that end, we’ve put together this little Karrueche Tran wiki for you. We’ve combed through the Internet and come up with five facts that you should know about Karrueche Tran.
She was Born and Raised in L.A.
Karrueche Tran didn’t move to Los Angles for work, she was born and raised in the city. Born in 1988 to a Vietnamese mother and a Jamaican father, Tran attended Fairfax High School and then transferred (and graduated from) Birmingham High School. Besides Tran, Fairfax High School has a lot of other notable alumni including Flea and Anthony Kiedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, author James Ellroy, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Hollywood legend Mickey Rooney, and inventor Daniel Thompson (he invented the machine that allowed for the mass production of bagels).
Her Career in Fashion that Started from the Bottom
Karrueche Tran is now known for her style, but her career in fashion started at the bottom. She began as a personal shopper with Nordstrom from 2009 to 2012. From there, she ended up as a freelance Hollywood stylist (it was while working as a stylist that she met Chris Brown). From there, Tran kind of fell into modeling. If you ever want to visit the Nordstrom’s where she got her start, you’ll have to go to the Westfield Topanga Mall.
She’s Been on a Few Magazine Covers
As a model, Karrueche Tran has been on a few magazine covers. Most notably she’s been on the covers of Vibe, Rolling Out, and Annex. The web site for Elle magazine also did a couple of feature stories on Karrueche Tran. She was the summer 2013 face of Lady Crooks, the women’s division of Crook’s and Castles. In spring/summer 2015, Tran was featured in the lookbook for the French athletic brand Le Coq Sportif.
She’s an Actress and Host
Like many, Tran’s entrance into the world of fashion opened doors into the world of acting and hosting. It began with some small parts in smaller projects, and then a bigger part in a B-movie, 3-Headed Shark Attack (no, we didn’t make that up, it co-starred tough guy Danny Trejo and former pro wrestler Rob Van Dam) which eventually lead to better parts like her role on the television show The Bay. She also appeared in the critically applauded film The Nice Guys. She’s also hosted for some of BET’s red carpet specials. While Karrueche Tran still models from time to time, her main focus is currently acting. According to IMDB, she has a new project in the works, a television movie called Claws. Claws focuses on the lives (and possible crimes) of five women who work in a hair salon. It will co-star Harold Perrineau, Kevin Rankin, and Carrie Preston.
We all have little interesting quirks and talents, so why should Karrueche Tran be an exception? She revealed in an interview with Gossip Cop that she’s double-jointed. In another interview, Tran admitted that she has a rather large belly button, large enough, in fact, to be able to place a quarter inside it. Tran also has one thing that drives her up the wall, “the sound of clinking silverware makes me want to scream.”
