Early Life

Where is Austin Allsup from? Well, according to his biography on The Voice web site, Austin Allsup is 32 years old and was born in Fort Worth, Texas, but he now resides in Springtown, Texas.

The Tour

Most young adults go to school or travel the world at 19 years old, but not Austin. Instead, he toured with his Grammy Award-winning father, guitarist Tommy Allsup and the band, Bob Willis and His Texas Playboys! Austin put out his first record in 2005 and went on to complete a national tour, giving so many others a taste of his music. Later that year, Austin performed at an event that featured none other than his future mentor, country star Blake Shelton, as part of the lineup! Austin has played roughly 150 shows per year since then. It’s no wonder he’s a natural in front of an audience!

Tommy Allsup

It looks like Austin Allsup’s family has music in their veins and it clearly shows. As we mentioned before, Austin’s father is the legendary Tommy Allsup, a Grammy Award-winning guitarist. Tommy was born in Owasso, Oklahoma on November 24, 1931, making him 84 years old. Tommy was touring with Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, when he lost a fateful coin toss for a seat with Valens on a plane that crashed, ultimately killing Valens, Holly, and Richardson on February 3, 1959. Talk about luck?!

Tommy moved to Los Angeles, played with other bands and did session work. In 1968, he moved back to Nashville and in 1979, he started a club called “Tommy’s Heads Up Saloon” in Dallas to commemorate the coin toss that happened 20 years before.

Dating

Reportedly, Austin has a wife and two kids, but their identities aren’t known to the public yet, which could mean that Austin is off the market for anyone who’s interested!

The Voice

Austin has made it this far and is currently on Team Blake. He has made it to the top 12, along with the other remaining finalists. His cover of John Fogerty’s “Bad Moon Rising” from the Battle Grounds is how he beat Nashville native, Preston James. If America has their way, Austin will be on the winning team, and he could be the last one standing on this season of The Voice. If this is the case, we could be hearing Austin Allsup’s songs everywhere very soon.

The Voice airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. EST on NBC so tune in to catch Austin Allsup’s next riveting performance tonight!
