Misty Loman’s series of mugshots are the result of meth use.
A series of mugshots of a Kentucky woman named Misty Loman has gone viral on social media. A sheriff posted Loman’s mugshots to warn about the dangers of meth addiction. The post quickly went viral, especially after Loman was arrested in July 2019. Loman has since become a trending topic online, with many disparaging her for ruining her life. But is Misty Loman really the face of meth use? We’ve set the record straight here.
Why Is Misty Loman Trending?
A Wisconsin sheriff, Adam Bieber, shared Misty Loman’s mugshots on his Facebook page (not his personal profile), warning against the dangers of meth use. Loman, who has been arrested multiple times, has gone through a dramatic change in her appearance over the years.
“Just in case you’re thinking about trying Meth, Google “Misty Loman” first. Please and thank you,” he wrote on the post, alleging that the deterioration of her appearance is the result of her addiction.
More than a week later, the post is trending on social media. His post has over 36K shares, while Google Trends recorded a spike in searches for “Misty Loman.”
The scrutiny of Loman intensified when recent reports claimed that she was arrested in a Warren County courtroom for allegedly showing up to her hearing intoxicated. She has been charged with public intoxication, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result.
She was allegedly under the influence of narcotics during the July 2 court appearance, which was related to a previous arrest. A search of her purse turned up a small bag of what is suspected to be meth. Loman denied the charges, claiming the substance was crushed Zofran, a medication to prevent nausea caused by chemotherapy.
Loman is currently detained at Warren County Regional Jail after being arrested on July 2. Her bail has reportedly been set at $1,000.
On Twitter and other online discussion forums, Misty Loman has been subjected to intense scrutiny. Some are shocked by the evident deterioration of her health and hoping that she will turn her life around. But the collage of mugshots has received seemingly excessively crude and insensitive comments.
Who Is Misty Loman?
Misty Dawn Loman, 40, is a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky. She occasionally goes by her married name, Misty Glass.
She is mother to at least two sons, Corey and Jacob, with her husband, Gary Glass Jr. It’s unclear if she’s still married; however, her Facebook activity shows that she adores her sons.
Loman apparently has been battling drug addiction for years and has been arrested several times for drug-related charges. One of her earliest arrests was in 2005, when she was 26, on outstanding warrants.
She was named in felony warrants on charges of first-degree manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia in Hopkins County. Another warrant in Warren County named her for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of stolen property.
But there’s more to Misty Loman’s story than drug addiction and arrests. She and her husband have lost three children in the past, according to her Facebook supporters.
One of her children was stillborn. When she was pregnant with twins, one died in the womb and the other died less than a month after it was born. None of the children’s deaths were drug-related.
In addition to the loss of her children, Misty is battling life-threatening illnesses along with her addiction struggles, and trying to be a mother to her two surviving children.

Misty Loman’s Condition Is Reportedly Related to Cancer and Other Factors
Misty Loman’s circumstances and battle with addiction have earned her many online supporters over the years. There are Facebook pages dedicated to supporting her through her struggles, and many people are constantly leaving messages of support on her Facebook.
These people claim to know Loman’s history and have come forward to defend her against the vilification stemming from her mugshot timeline. According to these people, Loman is suffering from lupus, bone cancer, and scleroderma.
Chemotherapy for the cancer has caused her hair to fall out, as is seen in her latest pictures. Note: she claimed a medication to counter a side effect of chemo was found in her purse during her recent arrest.
Scleroderma is a condition wherein the skin and connective tissues harden. It commonly affects women between the ages of 30 and 50. This is also adding to Loman’s gaunt appearance.
Loman’s supporters have stood up against the people sharing the collage of mugshots and making her out to be the face of meth abuse. One of them, Lee Ann Colley Maples, has criticized news reports and Sheriff Bieber for not researching Loman’s story before sharing the mugshots.
I think everyone should know that her appearance is not only because of her addiction. She also has a rare lupus and a bone disease. Which the police failed to mention….

Loman’s mother, Joan Smith, has expressed her gratitude to Maples in the comments of her posts, appearing to confirm that it is indeed true.
Meth is apparently only one of the factors affecting her health and it’s unclear if she still uses drugs. So it would be unfair to make her the poster child of meth addiction.
