One of the Fab Five’s fan favorites, Jonathan Van Ness started 2019 as a single guy. Queer Eye’s grooming expert was dating Wilco Froneman in 2018, until he announced their breakup with a dramatic tweet. Who is JVN’s ex and why did they break up? Our Wilco Froneman wiki has the latest updates on Jonathan Van Ness’ ex.

Wilco Froneman Is from South Africa

Wilco Froneman was born on August 6, 1986 and raised in South Africa. He’s reportedly a native of Mpumalanga, in Eastern South Africa.

Froneman graduated from the University of Johannesburg and has worked in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

From 2015 to 2017, he lived and worked in Dublin, Ireland. Since 2017, he has been a resident of New York City.

His family still lives in Cape Town and he writes he’s a proud South African on his social media bios.

Froneman Plays Rugby

Froneman is an athlete and extremely adventurous. That also includes swimming with sharks!

But rugby has a big part in his active lifestyle. He appears to have played rugby in both South Africa and Ireland.

And in New York, he’s a member and on the board of the Gotham Knights, NYC’s premiere gay/inclusive rugby club.

Froneman Works for Deloitte

The South African native acquired a bachelor of commerce in tax law and a masters in South African and international taxation from the University of Johannesburg. Before graduating in 2014, he was a tax risk auditor for Nedbank in Johannesburg and a transfer pricing assistant manager at Cape Town’s Ernst and Young.

When he moved to Ireland, he worked as a transfer pricing manager at Deloitte, one of the Big Four accounting firms in the world. And he still works for the organization in New York.

Froneman Dated JVN in 2018

From his Instagram activity, it appears that Froneman has been open about his sexuality for many years. He once mentioned that he experienced bullying as a child for being gay and red-headed.

Today is / was World Day of Bullying Prevention, a cause I think too many of us can associate with. As so many other children I was bullied for, amongst other things, for being gay and ginger and even though I survived through this and many instances of bullying, there remains many children who simply don’t. Children like little Jamel Myles who was bullied to death. His parents didn’t know he was experiencing a torrent time at school after being brave enough to come out at age 9 and little Jamel isn’t alone. 1 in 3 students in the United States claim to have been bullied and the thing is, it’s time for us as adults to do more, because we’ve been there and we certainly know it sucks and the lasting effects it’s had in our own lives. We should do more, because kids aren’t born bullies they are made bullies by adults. “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela. Let’s be the example we might never have had, let’s teach our children and youth to love. It’s unclear how Froneman and Jonathan Van Ness came to date. They made their first public appearance as a couple at the Creative Arts Emmys in Los Angeles in September 2018.

However, their relationship was short-lived. In December 2018, JVN wrote in an Instagram post, “Cheaters never prosper,” before altering the text. Nonetheless, people speculated they broke up because Froneman allegedly cheated. What followed was a lot of hate towards Froneman.

JVN was quick to jump to Froneman’s defense, though. In a series of social media posts, Van Ness squashed the cheating rumors.

“Please don’t go in on Wilco, he doesn’t need the anger & I don’t want to see him suffer so just know I’m all good & sometimes people break up — Love you all so much,” JVN wrote on his Instagram.

Froneman and JVN have moved on, however. While Van Ness traveled across the country with the Fab Five and is set for the premiere of Queer Eye season 4 on July 19, Froneman is happy in his new relationship. The rugby player is currently dating Ben Jones, a New York-based architect.
