This year’s Met Gala saw Kim Kardashian in a dress that was unlike anything that we’ve ever seen her wear before. So, what did Kim Kardashian wear at the Met Gala 2016? The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star wore a long silver dress, designed by haute couture fashion house, Balmain. The look was inspired by Kardashian’s initial desire to dress up as a robot without looking like a robot. At the end of the day, only she could make a robot look stylish.

“I just wanted to go for a robot, a blingy sexy robot,” she said in an E! News interview on Monday.

The dress was suited the Met Gala 2016 theme of Manus x Machina, which incorporated fashion and technology throughout the ages—two elements for which Kardashian is famous. Her sartorial choices and phone apps have helped make her a bigger household name. Her clothing store, DASH, had been a staple for the Kardashian brand, but then Kim branched off into the technology world and created an app that would help expand her reach.

It comes as no surprise that Kardashian and her sister, Kylie Jenner and mother, Kris Jenner, chose to wear Balmain dresses to Met Gala 2016. The famous first family of entertainment is publicly known for its personal ties to the Balmain name and its creative director, 25-year-old Olivier Rousteing. We wonder what that discount is like.

Kanye West was also caught wearing Balmain in the form of a coat with ripped jeans—and if you looked closely you could see the rapper’s metal teeth.

Before the socialite left the house, she already had an admirer of her dress: her daughter North West.

“Leaving the house, my daughter was like, ‘Mommy, I need that dress!’” Kim told E! News. “I was like, ‘As soon as I’m home, you can have it … I just need it tonight, then it’s [yours]. You can wear it prom! [sic]”
