How did Tupac Shakur die? Is Tupac Shakur alive? As fans remember Shakur and his music, we explore some of the more popular Tupac Shakur death theories that might have possible answers to the murder theories that have been circulating for two decades now.

It seems fans always have a few murder theories, accompanied by search terms like “Tupac Shakur b-day,” so we decided to deliver four of the most popular ones and brief you on what happened the night Shakur was taken from the world before his time.

On September 7, 1966, Shakur was in Las Vegas attending a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand and was accompanied by Suge Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records, which was Shakur’s label at the time. On his way out, Shakur and his bodyguard were fighting with Orlando Anderson, a member of the Southside Crips gang, who were based in Compton, California. After the fight, Shakur and Knight left and were on their way to Club 662, but Shakur never made it. While they were stopped at a traffic light, a white Cadillac pulled up next to their car and opened fire on Shakur. The shooter shot Shakur four times and one of the bullets grazed Knight’s head. Shakur was found hemorrhaging at the scene and was taken to the hospital and put on life support but died six days later. The authorities still have no concrete evidence as to who the shooter could be, and the case currently remains unsolved, but everyone has a plausible theory. Chuck Phillips, a former Los Angeles Times journalist believes that Orlando Anderson, The Crips, Suge Knight, and Biggie Smalls were responsible for Shakur’s untimely death.

Theory 1: Orlando Anderson

Among others, Anderson could likely be the shooter since he and Shakur had a very public altercation at the MGM Grand Hotel that night. He was also a Crips member, so it’s more than likely that he was enraged after the previous fight and took matters into his own hands later on that night.

Theory 2: The Crips

It stands to reason that the Crips gang members wanted retaliation for the beating that Shakur gave Anderson at the hotel. Shakur knew a lot of people but also made a lot of enemies. He had a known feud with the Crips, but both the gang and Anderson denied any involvement in Shakur’s murder.

Theory 3: The Notorious B.I.G. (aka Biggie Smalls)

It’s believed that the late rapper, Biggie Smalls, was responsible for the hit on Shakur’s life. He could’ve supplied the shooter with a gun and paid $1.0 million according to Phillips. It was no secret that Smalls and Shakur had a year-long feud and released diss tracks from their respective coasts.

Theory 4: Suge Knight

Knight was a likely suspect even though he was grazed in the car during the shooting. Some believe that he could’ve been the shooter since Shakur was ready to leave Knight’s record company, and it was rumored that Knight owed him $3.0 million. It was speculated by police that he made a call to the shooter and insisted Shakur ride in his car.

To this day, the case is still cold, and even though he’s gone, there are still Tupac Shakur photos and music online, and he’s still earning money from his art. We wish he was still for us to say “Happy Birthday, Tupac,” but though he’s gone, he’ll never be forgotten.
