Queer Eye met Flipping Out when Antoni Porowski and Trace Lehnhoff began dating in 2019. We’re still sad about Antoni and Joey Krietemeyer parting ways, but this new couple is too hot for words! It’s been a while since we last saw Trace on TV. So we’ve got Trace Lehnhoff’s wiki to refresh your memory.

Trace Lehnhoff Is from Minnesota

Born Trace James Lehnhoff on December 31,1987, he hails from Walnut Grove, Minnesota. He is one of two sons born to Loren and Jody Lehnhoff.

Trace and his brother, Nick, graduated from Westbrook-Walnut Grove Senior High School. While Trace moved to Los Angeles in 2008, his family still resides in Minnesota.

Trace and Nick lost their father, Loren, tragically in 1998, when they were still kids. Jody appears to have remarried since then.

His brother and sister currently reside in Currie, Minnesota. Nick works for a construction company, while Jody has a realty business.

Lehnhoff Worked with Jeff Lewis on Flipping Out

Trace moved to California in 2008 and attended the Art Institute of California—Los Angeles. Before he graduated with his bachelor of science degree in interior design, Lehnhoff scored an internship at Jeff Lewis’ interior design firm.

Lehnhoff appears to have been drawn to interior design since he was young and was a fan of Jeff Lewis’ designs. So, he took a gamble and inquired about internships at his firm. To his surprise, he got a positive response.

As soon as he started at Lewis’ firm, Lehnhoff joined the cast of Bravo’s Flipping Out by default in season 3. It took a while to get used to, but Trace was able to adapt soon enough. He got his fair share of Lewis’ infamous temper, too, but Lehnhoff took it like a sport.

Lewis Fired Lehnhoff on the Show

As soon as he graduated, Trace was hired full-time as an associate designer at Jeff Lewis Design. He also featured on the show often, including that jaw-dropping moment when he was slapped on reality television.

However, he’d end up on the long list of people Jeff Lewis has dramatically parted ways with on Flipping Out. If you’ve forgotten, back in season 5, Lewis was on a firing spree.

A week after firing his sister-in-law, Sarah Berkman, Lewis and his then-partner, Gage Edwards, go through Trace’s computer and find he had been working on some designs.

Lewis thought that Lehfhoff was wasting precious office hours on his personal project. So Jeff, with Gage’s vote, fired Lehnhoff from his firm and show.

But the firing wasn’t as dramatic as the show’s known for, with Trace graciously taking his leave. He went on to pen a blog on the Bravo website, thanking Lewis for mentoring him.

In the same blog, Lehnhoff revealed he took his firing as a chance to move on to the next phase by starting his own design firm.

Lehnhoff Has Worked with Neil Patrick Harris

Since leaving Jeff Lewis Design, Lehnhoff has been doing great professionally. He started his own eponymous company to decorate homes and plan events.

His portfolio is private and only available on request to preserve the privacy of his clients. Nonetheless, he shares some of his work on Instagram and he did give a candid view of his work with friend and client Neil Patrick Harris.

Lehnhoff, together with the architecture firm Povero & Company, renovated Harris and David Burtka’s New York townhouse in 2014. After 14 months of work, the house was magnificent enough to be featured in multiple publications like Architectural Digest. One of the items in the house that earned special mention is a bespoke Trace Lehnhoff-designed cocktail table.

Trace and Antoni Met through Instagram

Queer Eye’s food and wine expert, Antoni Porowski, and his partner of seven years, Joey Krietemeyer, broke up in October 2018. But he wasn’t single for long. Porowski and his new boyfriend, Trace Lehnhoff, went Instagram official that December 2018.

They have since featured in each other’s Instagram often. It was when Antoni appeared on Trace’s old Bravo stomping grounds that we learned more about their relationship.

Antoni stopped by Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen ahead of the Queer Eye season 3 premiere on Netflix. The chef revealed to Andy Cohen that he met Lehnhoff “the 2019 way.”

“We met on Instagram,” he said, adding that there was some sliding into DMs. They are going strong through their very hectic schedules and try to have intimate dates whenever they can.
