Tiger Woods’ Age and Early Life

Athlete Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods was born on December 30, 1975 in Cypress, California. His age is 41 now, but in 1997, he became the youngest man and first African-American to win the U.S. Masters at Augusta, when he was just 21 years old. He is the only child of an African-American father (who died in 2006), who was an army officer, while his mother was of Thai descent. Woods got the nickname “Tiger” from his father, who called him that in honor of a fellow fallen soldier.

Woods studied at Stanford University and quickly won several amateur titles in golf, before becoming a professional in 1996.

Tiger Woods’ Net Worth

Due to his widely successful career as a pro athlete, Woods’ net worth is estimated to be around $740.0 million as of 2016, and came in seventh on Forbes’ list. He’s made millions in endorsement deals and has gone down as one of the most accomplished and famous athletes in history. Thanks to his incredible success on the greens, Woods and golf have become synonymous, cementing him as the face of the sport.

He has won 14 major tournaments (despite suffering a few injuries), but hasn’t won one since 2008. He posted on his blog in 2014 that he planned to go back to play professionally, but couldn’t turn the way he used to before.

“I want to thank my doctors for their great work and support throughout this process. I also want to thank the fans for your phenomenal support. It means more than you know. There’s a long way to go, but as I said, words cannot convey how good it feels to be pain-free,” said Woods.

Tiger Woods Daughter, Son and Personal Life

Tiger married former Swedish nanny and model, Elin Nordegren from 2004-2010. They have two kids together: Daughter Sam, 7, and son Charlie, 6. Tiger was the subject of a very public scandal, when it was discovered that Tiger was leading a double life as a serial cheater with at least a dozen women.

Nordegren opened up to People last year about her current state with Tiger, after their divorce.

“I have moved on and I am in a good place,” Nordegren said. “My relationship with Tiger is centered around our children and we are doing really good – we really are – and I am so happy that is the case. He is a great father.” Though the pair have separated, they are focused on being the best parents they can be to their children, as that is their main priority.

“In the beginning, you tamp down the animosity for the kids’ sake,” she added. “I’m not going to deny that I went through the wringer. But I don’t think I doubted we’d end up here. That was always my dream, that the kids can have two loving parents that show respect for each other. And I feel that’s what they have.”
