Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz was the victim of a shooting in his native Dominican Republic on June 9, 2019. However, he is on the path to recovery, according to Big Papi’s wife, Tiffany Ortiz. The couple has been through ups and downs in the past, but Tiffany is staying by her husband’s side during this shocking experience. She keeps a low profile, but we’ve got Tiffany Ortiz’s wiki here with all that’s known about her.

Tiffany Ortiz Is from Wisconsin

Born Tiffany Brick on May 13, 1974, she’s a native of Kaukauna, Wisconsin. She’s one of four children born to Lorraine and Terrence “Terry” Brick.

Her father was an athletic man who was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and Boston Red Sox. He passed away in 2013.

Lorraine Brick passed away in 2014, just a few months after Tiffany’s brother Kevin’s wife passed away in an accident.

Mrs. Big Papi, also a major Green Bay Packers fan, (in)famously converted David Ortiz to Packers fandom, to the mild irritation of Red Sox Nation.

Tiffany and David Ortiz Met When He Was Playing in Wisconsin

David Ortiz, born on November 18, 1975, was signed by the Seattle Mariners in 1992 while he was still a 17-year-old youth from the Dominican Republic. In 1996, he was promoted to Single A, playing with the Mariners’ farm team, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

For his single season in Wisconsin, Green Bay became his adopted home and that’s where he met his future wife. David and Tiffany went on to tie the knot eight years later.

With Ortiz being the star player for the Boston Red Sox, the family settled in Weston, Massachusetts.

They are parents to two children—Alexandria (born 2001) and D’Angelo (born 2004). David has a daughter, Yessica (born 1996), from a previous relationship who graduated from a school in the Dominican Republic.

Tiffany and David Separated and Reconciled

After more than a decade together, Tiffany and David Ortiz’s marriage hit a rough patch in 2013. The couple separated and announced they were divorcing.

“There are some situations in life that work out for a period of time and at some point they don’t work out anymore and you have to move on,” David said in a statement. “I’m moving on. She’s moving on. Hopefully everybody respects that.”

However, they worked things out and reconciled in 2014. “We separated for a while,” Tiffany said. “We did, but we missed each other terribly.”

Tiffany Runs the David Ortiz Children’s Fund

After seeing the plight of children in his home country, David Ortiz started the David Ortiz Children’s Fund in 2007. The organization provides pediatric care for children in Ortiz’s two homes—the Dominican Republic and New England.

Tiffany is a co-founder and a member of the organization’s board of directors. Besides her family foundation, she’s an active philanthropist through the Red Sox Foundation and her position on the Boston Board for UNICEF.

Tiffany Ortiz Said David Is Recovering after the Shooting

On June 9, 2019, Ortiz was at a bar in Santo Domingo when he was reportedly ambushed by a man on a motorcycle and shot in the back. He was rushed to a local hospital and underwent a reported six-hour-long surgery.

One June 10, the Red Sox organization sent a team-chartered flight to Santo Domingo to bring Ortiz back to Boston. He underwent a second successful surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is currently housed.

After a tense few days, Tiffany made her first public statement on the incident on June 11. She said her husband is “stable, awake, and resting comfortably” in the intensive care unit where he’s expected to remain for a few more days.

Tiffany also expressed thanks for the outpouring of support and well-wishes from the Red Sox organization, the medical staff, and the fans.

Authorities have reportedly arrested a suspect, Eddy Feliz Garcia, after the shooting.
