Who won The Voice? Well if you missed the crowning moment that revealed the winner of The Voice 2016 then we’ve got you covered. The Voice winner was none other than Alisan Porter, of Team Christina! The former Curly Sue child star can now add singer to her resume after last night’s final showdown. From the beginning, Porter wowed audiences and her coach, who believed in her ability, commitment and passion. To celebrate her shining moment as The Voice’s latest champion under a female coach, we are giving you five facts about Alisan Porter.

Curly Sue

As you may or may not know, Porter was actually the star of the 1991 film, Curly Sue, about an orphan who scammed strangers and ran cons for money while living on the streets. Porter wanted to shed her child star life and hoped she would during her time on the show. “I have retired Curly Sue; she is dead! I am now the girl who won The Voice,” Porter told reporters after taking home the crown in the season 10 finale on Tuesday. “I would like you all to know. I’ve waited 30 something years for that! She’s dead!”

“I was an actress when I was very young. It’s not my passion. This is my passion,” Porter told the coaches in February.

Porter also made guest appearances in shows such as Peewee’s Playhouse, Family Ties, and The Golden Girls. To simplify to confused Millennials, these shows were popular a long time ago (well, not that long ago).

Personal Life

Porter was born Alisan Ann Porter on June 20, 1981, in Worchester, Massachusetts; she was raised by her mother, who was a dance teacher. Porter became a child actor, dancer, and singer and was also raised Jewish. She went to Staples High School and currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and two children. Though acting may have been how Porter got started, it’s clear to audiences that music is where she wants to finish.

Married with Children

On March 10, 2012, Porter got married in California to Brian Autenrieth, a fruit exporter and former child soap opera actor who used to be on Days of Our Lives. The couple has two children together: their son Mason was born in 2012, and their daughter Aria was born in 2014. They all currently reside in Los Angeles. Hard to believe Curly Sue is all grown up with kids of her own, isn’t it?

Facebook

Porter created a now-closed Facebook page for mothers called Lil’ Mamas, and in 2012, she created a related blog and web site (for which she is the CEO and founder) of the same name that she runs with her business partner Celia Behar.
