The New Year is already looking like it is going to be better for Michael Douglas, 69, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, 44. The celebrity couple confirmed in August 2013 that they were taking a break from their 13-year marriage. But it looks like they might be on the road to reconciliation, because the once happily married celebrity couple was photographed together in public for the first time since splitting.
Douglas and Zeta-Jones were spotted leaving their apartment in New York City. They enjoyed lunch together before going to watch a Broadway show and then a movie with their two kids. They were also both wearing their wedding rings and looked happy to be in each other’s company.
While this isn’t exactly a solid reunion, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. Despite their marriage troubles, Douglas has always been optimistic about working things out with his wife. “Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the end. I’m very hopeful,” the actor said back in October.
Douglas isn’t the only one who’s hopeful that they’ll get back together. “This is a separation, not a split. Not a divorce,” an insider who’s close to Zeta-Jones told People magazine. “They’re not giving up.”
