The Most Popular Place to Go on a First Date (Not What You’d Expect)

It’s a common problem that plagues both age gap dating and even more conventional singles—where should you go on the first date? If you’ve ever struggled with this question, you’re probably not the only one.

Luckily for you, a new survey conducted by a dating app may have just solved this perennial age gap dating problem. The app allows users to pick a location where they’d like to meet their date for the first time, and after analyzing data collected from 200,000 users of varying ages, it revealed that the most popular location for a first date is Starbucks. It’s not bad a bad option—casual, laidback, and a little classier than your average coffee shop. The survey also revealed that women generally prefer to have a first date at a coffee shop, while men prefer a restaurant. That’s definitely something to keep in mind.

While these findings are interesting, we have to say that the results would probably be a little different if the survey was focusing just on age gap dating. There’s nothing wrong with a casual coffee date at Starbucks, but a lot of younger women who date successful, mature men are looking for something a little more lavish. They expect to be swept off their feet, and Starbucks might not do the trick. Again, a coffee date is fine, but we’re thinking something along the lines of a posh café—it’s like Pizza Hut versus a fine Italian bistro.

We could be wrong, but tell us what you think. If you were going on a first date with a rich, older man, would you be disappointed if he took you to Starbucks, or would you be perfectly OK with it?
