Marvel fans are rejoicing over the announcement of The Defenders, which is a Marvel-Netflix collaboration like many we have seen before. The miniseries promises to be more action-packed and superhero-y than we’ve previously seen. The Defenders is expected to meet the high expectations of Marvel fans. So without further ado, here’s the schedule for The Defenders season 1, episodes, and the show’s cast.

Who Are The Defenders?

The Defenders on Netflix follows four main characters —Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Daredevil— as they come together to fight common enemies.

Luke Cage has super human strength and impenetrable skin. He has been loved by fans since the character’s inception in the ’70s. He’s a convict who was imprisoned for crimes he did not commit, and volunteers for a procedure that leads him to gain super human strength. Mike Colter was first seen as Luke Cage in Netflix’s Jessica Jones, before starring in his own show in 2016.

Jessica Campbell was put into an orphanage after her parents die in a car crash with a convoy carrying radioactive material. She survives the crash, but spends months in a coma. She is adopted by the Jones family and soon realizes that the exposure to the radioactive material gave her super human strength, as well as limited invulnerability and flight. In the show, she decides to give up her superhero past and becomes a private investigator with her firm, Alias.

After the first season of Iron Fist, fans either loved or hated the characterIt follows Danny Rand, a billionaire monk with martial arts training, who was believed to be dead for 15 years. He comes back to New York City in the hopes of getting back his company and his family. He learned how to focus his chi in order to summon what is known as the Iron Fist. Finn Jones plays Danny Rand, and though fans did not like the first season, some are optimistic that the character will redeem himself enough in The Defenders to make season 2 of Iron Fist worth watching.

Daredevil was the first Marvel hero to be brought to Netflix. He is blind, but his other senses are heightened, allowing him to fight crime just as well (if not better than) other superheroes. Daredevil is the alias of Matt Murdock, a lawyer who was blinded as a young boy. He can sense changes in pressure, temperature, weather, and heat. He is fast, agile, and is super flexible, making him a master of a hybrid martial arts form. Charlie Cox will don his red suit in The Defenders, as fans eagerly await the third season of Daredevil.

The Defenders season 1 trailer shows a whole lot of action and fun, as the team slowly come together and prepare to face new threats in New York. The Defenders will premiere August 18, 2017, at 12:00 a.m. PT on Netflix.
