Based on Kass Morgan’s adult fiction book series, The 100 and its TV adaptation are set to be one of the most acclaimed post-apocalypse series on American television today. So it’s no wonder that The 100 is slated to return with a much-anticipated third season, which will bring new characters, a blossoming romance, and mostly unsettled revenges. Titled Wanheda: Part 1, The 100 season 3 episode 1 releases this Thursday, January 21 on The CW at 9/8c. Prior to its broadcast, you can watch all the season’s promos and teasers online, thanks to The CW.

In the previous season, an attempt to stop Cage (Johnny Whitworth) from extracting bone marrow led to Clarke (Eliza Taylor) and Bellamy (Bob Marley) shooting Cage’s father, which in turn led Cage to try and move ahead with the extraction from Clarke’s mother. Clarke and Bellamy manage to save her mother and the rest by releasing radiation into Mount Weather, thereby killing off the entire population, including Maya (Eve Harlow). Jasper Jordan (Devon Bostick) is devastated when he hears that he lost his love, Maya, due to the actions of his own team, which leads to Clarke deciding to leave Camp Jaha.

In The 100 season 2 finale, Chancellor Jaha (Isaiah Washington) and John Murphy (Richard Harmon) arrive at an island. Leaving Murphy behind, Jaha sets off to discover a mansion guarded by drones, and inside it, Jaha comes across a mysterious A.I. who goes by the name A.L.I.E.—the A.I. thanks him for his “gift” of a nuclear warhead that he unknowingly brought when landing on Earth.

The 100 season 3 episode 1 picks up three months after the Mount Weather tragedy and will introduce new characters, like A.L.I.E., and their role in deciding the fate of Jaha and the Camp. The third season kicks off with Bellamy and Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) leading a team as they set off to rescue Clarke from the Grounders. Meanwhile, Jordan is still a mess after losing Maya. A battle rages on this season as well, with all of the colonies gearing up for total annihilation.

The war-driven show will also reportedly reveal a softer side with a new romance set to blossom between Bellamy and Clarke. Bob Morley, who plays Bellamy, told Entertainment Weekly that The 100 season 3 might show Bellamy in a more romantic light, as opposed to his typical warrior perspective on life. Morley adds, “[There’s] the time jump to three months of relative-ish peace, then, there’s the option of him to open his eyes to that aspect of life [sic].”

On the other hand, however, Eliza Taylor teased fans that her character Clarke has no time for emotions as she’s busy with more pressing problems this season, like taking down a wild panther. “She doesn’t want to deal with her emotions, or the things she has done, so she tries to be someone else. And in the 100 universe, that means really… having to wrestle panthers [sic],” joked Taylor.

As we previously mentioned, The 100 season 3 episode 1, Wanheda: Part 1, will premiere this Thursday. The rest of the schedule is as follows:

  • Wanheda: Part 2 (season 3, episode 2) – January 28, 2016
  • Ye Who enter Here (season 3, episode 3) – February 4, 2016
  • Watch the Thrones (season 3, episode 4) – February 11, 2016

With an enticing line-up as such, make sure you don’t miss this week’s premiere of The 100 season 3 on Thursday, January 21 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW. In the meantime, you can also watch all the promos and teasers of the latest season online, either on The CW’s web site or YouTube channel.
