What better way to get into the festive holiday spirit of Thanksgiving than by gathering around with your little ones and singing some classic nursery rhymes! We all know the tunes, but do you know the Thanksgiving versions of them? Check them out here and sing along with your kids this season!

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and what better way to help get children into the spirit of giving than by teaching them these special Thanksgiving songs for kindergarten kids! Kids are familiar with the original versions of many of these songs, so we’ve compiled a few covers of these Thanksgiving songs for elementary students!

We bet you either forgot or didn’t even know there was such a thing as Thanksgiving songs—but there are! Pre-schoolers learn all the best and popular Christmas songs, but many often forget that there are songs about being thankful, too. So, if you want to learn a few easy-to-remember Thanksgiving songs, then you came to the right place. Check out our favorites below!

“Pilgrims Are Coming To Celebrate” (Sung to: “The Ants Go Marching”)

“The pilgrims are coming to celebrate, Hurrah, Hurrah
The pilgrims are coming to celebrate, Thanksgiving Day
The pilgrims are coming so don’t be late
They’ll sing and dance to celebrate
And we’ll all have fun so don’t be late!”

“Let’s Be Thankful” (Sung to: “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”)

“Let’s be thankful for this day
For our friends and our play
Let’s be thankful; let’s be glad
For our food and the things we have
Let’s give thanks for you and me
And our home and family.”

“A Thanksgiving Song” (Sung to: “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”)

“The Pilgrims sailed away, far across the sea.
They came to America, so they could be free.
The Native Americans, helped them plant the corn.
Then they shared a great big feast, Thanksgiving Day was born!”

“Ted the Turkey” (Sung to: “I’m A Little Teapot”)

“I’m a little turkey, my name is Ted.
Here are my feathers, here is my head.
Gobble, gobble, gobble, is what I say
Gobble, gobble, gobble, It’s Thanksgiving Day!”

“Mr. Turkey”

“Gobble, gobble, Mr. Turkey
All around the big farm yard!
Wobble, wobble, Mr. Turkey
But you better stand your guard!
Gobble, wobble, gobble, wobble
Farmer Jones has plans for you!
Better keep one strut ahead
Or you’ll turn into turkey stew!”

“Mr. Turkey” (Sung to: “Clementine”)

“Mr. Turkey, Mr. Turkey
Get nice and fat!
We are waiting for Thanksgiving,
Now what do you think of that?”

Judging by all these songs, we know one thing about this holiday: It’s hard being a turkey! But there’s no reason to feel bad—dust off those stretchy track pants, watch all the Thanksgiving episodes of How I Met Your Mother, get ready for some Black Friday sales and remember to have a Happy Thanksgiving!
