He may be closing in on 70, but actor Sylvester Stallone is still one of the fittest men in Hollywood. So it only makes sense that he continues to bank on his physique while he can.
Back in March, it was announced that Stallone would be producing a new fitness reality show called S.T.R.O.N.G. (“Start to Realize Our Natural Greatness”). The series will feature a group of contestants who are paired with trainers to help them with their transformation. Similar to The Biggest Loser, individuals will get eliminated each week until one winner is left standing. In fact, the show’s creator, David Broome, also co-created The Biggest Loser.
Sylvester Stallone, who’s an executive producer, has now confirmed via his official Twitter handle (@TheSlyStallone) that the new series is officially underway, writing, “STRONG! A ground breaking SUPER Television Show that I am very involved in, invented by the Genius David Broome, starts filming TODAY!” There’s no word yet on the premiere date for the show, but it’s expected to air on NBC sometime next year.
Stallone built his career around being an action star, but he’s also dabbled in producing for television—he served as the executive producer and host of The Contender, a reality show/competition for boxers that aired for five seasons from 2005 to 2009. After that, he went back to focusing on Hollywood with starring roles in a long list of films.
However, Stallone seems to now be making the transition back to producing for TV. In addition to S.T.R.O.N.G., Sly will also be producing two other television series based on two of his famous film franchises, The Expendables and Rambo.
