Who are Rey’s parents? That’s the burning question every fan wants answered. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in Star Wars: Episode VIII, hasn’t given an answer, so fans are left wondering! (Why must she torture us?!)

The main theory that fans are drawing so far is that Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker could be Rey’s father in the next Star Wars movie. After all fans don’t really care who the mother is at that point, they just want one famous parent that they know to throw a party over. And with the recent Star Wars: Rogue One trailer gaining views online, most assume the movie’s heroine, Jyn Erso, played by Felicity Jones, is Rey’s mother. But Ridley, who won for Breakthrough Performance at this year’s MTV Movie Awards, declined such theories.

“I’m not being funny you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair…it doesn’t mean she’s my mom,” she told MTV.

A fair reason, but that makes us wonder if Ridley is giving us a clue in there somewhere. Was Rey adopted and then separated from her parents? Or maybe we will never know who her biological parents are because she herself has no idea.

Though Rey may be ignorant about her true parentage, Ridley certainly isn’t and was made aware while filming Star Wars: Episode 7.

The actress went on to say that it’s not where she and Finn came from but where they’re going that counts, and that the two find a place in a world of chaos. That’s easy for her to say, since she already has the answer and refuses to share! We have to say the Force is strong in this one.

Speaking of the Force, does Daisy Ridley play a Jedi? Shockingly enough, Ridley has no idea. There have been debates about whether Leia is a Jedi, but most just conclude that she is Force-sensitive, having showed signs of being so in the movies. So, maybe the same can be said for Rey as well. But her story won’t unfold until Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters in December 2017.
