The magnificent Simone Biles won her fifth World Championships gold medal in Stuttgart, Germany this year, becoming the most decorated gymnast in the event’s history. While we were celebrating the gymnastics wunderkind, a video surfaced of Biles’ very ecstatic cheerleader. Stacey Ervin Jr., who also has the good fortune of calling himself Simone Biles’ boyfriend, went viral for his enthusiastic and supportive reactions watching Biles perform on the mat. He’s certainly #boyfriendgoals and deserves this spotlight in Stacey Ervin Jr.’s wiki.

Stacey Ervin Jr. Is a Gymnast

Stacey Ervin Jr. was born on October 21, 1993 in Taylor, Michigan. He’s one of four children born to Stacey Ervin Sr. and Stephanie Hayes and has three siblings, Danielle, Drake, and Katrina.

He graduated from Truman High School in Taylor in 2011, where he was a gymnastics prodigy. After his mother suggested gymnastics, he picked up the graceful sport in 2001.

Ervin has won four bronze medals and a silver medal in his career. He’s also the 2013 NCAA team champion (Michigan). Before his freshman NCAA season, Ervin’s mother passed away of T-cell lymphoma. Though it took him a while to grieve, he stuck to the sport his mother got him into.

Ervin continued with gymnastics on the collegiate level while he was a student at the University of Michigan. He graduated in 2015 with a degree in psychology.

He would move to Spring, Texas where he continued his gymnastics career as coach and director of the Olympics men team.

Being a winning gymnast himself, Ervin certainly understands his girlfriend’s hard work the most.

Ervin Signed with and Later Quit WWE

A fan of WWE, Ervin earned a chance to join the industry giant thanks to Simone and a certain wrestling legend who goes by Triple H.

“Ironically enough, my girlfriend ended up in New York City, and Triple H was at a benefit speaking,” Ervin said. “She knew that I was interested so she’s like, ‘Man, I gotta go talk to this guy.’ So she calls him over and she’s talking to him and she’s like, ‘Hey, my boyfriend’s interested in doing WWE. Is there any way I can get connected?’”

Triple H probably couldn’t refuse the pint-sized champion. Because Ervin found himself at a tryout for the WWE Performance Center in early 2018. He made the cut and began training in Orlando, Florida with other rookies.

He soon joined WWE NXT and made his debut inside the ring that September. By October, he’d picked up his first win, defeating fellow newcomer Luke Menzies.

His wrestling career was progressing fast until an almost-serious injury made him rethink his choices. Less than a year after joining WWE, Ervin decided to forego his dreams to fight in WrestleMania and left WWE.

“I don’t walk away from the company with any negative feeling,” Ervin said about his decision. “Everyone that’s with me has been very supportive and looking out for my best interests.”

Since leaving WWE, Ervin has used his vast athletic experience to help others achieve their health and fitness goals. He is now building a new career as a fitness and lifestyle mentor.

Ervin Worked at Simone Biles’ Family Gym

When he was looking to return to gymnastics, a friend got him an interview with World Champions Centre in Spring, Texas, the gym owned by the mother of a world champion, Nellie Biles. After the interview with Nellie, Ervin got a job as a coach and director there in 2017.

At the same time, he grew closer to Nellie’s daughter, Simone Biles, whom he first met at the 2013 U.S. Championships. By August 2017, they were dating and made their relationship Instagram official.

It appears that Ervin doesn’t miss any of Biles’ performances. Recently, he went viral for his emotional cheering watching Biles perform at the World Championships on TV. And he also expressed his pride in his girl on Instagram.
