Everything You Need to Know about Sia’s New Album

Sia’s new album, This Is Acting, is an album written and sung by Sia. It features all the songs she wrote that were rejected by other artists, such as Beyoncé, Adele, Rihanna, Demi Lovato, and Katy Perry. “Alive” is the album’s lead single, which was released on September 25, 2015 to positive reactions.

The album itself received some positive reviews, but other critics from Billboard, Pitchfork, and The New York Times, had mixed reviews for it. With collaborations with, including a song that was produced and co-written by Kanye West, the album is cites as a mish-mash of genres—which makes sense since the album consists almost exclusively of songs that Sia had written for other artists.

But, ultimately, fans are the true critics and appreciate the music for what it is. Not all fans love every song in an album, but the point is to find a song that speaks to you and your own experiences.

Sia, once the woman behind the music, is now the face of her own music. She’s finally taking credit in public for her work and facing her fears head on. Sia’s upcoming Nostalgic For The Present Tour with Miguel and AlunaGeorge is a chance for audiences to judge the music for themselves and relive her album on stage.
