It’s about to be a big year for one of the most notable actresses in Hollywood. Scarlett Johansson has four movies scheduled to be released in 2016. Some of them are familiar, while others will show the Lucy star in a new light.
The first worth mentioning is, of course, Captain America: Civil War. Scarlett Johansson continues her role in the series as Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. the Black Widow. This highly-anticipated Marvel movie is already in post-production and is expected to be released in theaters on May 6.
In another familiar story, Johansson will be doing the voice of Kaa, Mowgli’s beloved snake friend, in the live-action remake of The Jungle Book. Jon Favreau is the director taking a crack at this beloved Disney story, which is already set to hit theatres on April 15.
The third title in the list of Scarlett Johansson’s upcoming movies is Sing, an animated feature that also includes the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, and Taron Egerton. This one is about a koala bear who needs some help boosting his theater business so he recruits his best friend to organize a singing contest. Scarlett will be tasked with doing the voice of Ash, which will give her a chance to show off her rock star skills—Ash is a porcupine trying to make a comeback as a solo star after being booted out of her old punk rock band. Sing is supposedly in post-production, but doesn’t hit theaters till late December.
Ghost in the Shell is another animated movie, this time based on a Japanese manga franchise, but it doesn’t come out till 2017. Not a lot is known about this film, except that it follows a cyborg cop played by Johansson as she searches to find the Puppet Master, who is a powerful computer hacker.
It’s safe to say that Scarlett Johansson will be busy promoting all of these films throughout the year. We’ll know soon enough how fans react to these movies once spring hits!
