Hailing from Ohio, Parker has a humble background. Her mother was a nursery school teacher and her father was a journalist. Her mother had children from her earlier marriage, making the Parker family’s children count a total of eight! When her parents divorced, Parker was raised by her mother. She had learned singing and ballet as a child and was cast in the musical, The Innocents. From the tender age of eight, Parker was earning a livelihood and supporting the household.
