Ryan Adams’ new album and songs for 2017 mark his return to music, after his cover album of Taylor Swift’s 1989 in 2015. Let’s take a closer look at all of Ryan Adams’ new songs in 2017, as well as Ryan Adams’ new album, Prisoner.
Ryan Adams to Drop New Album, Prisoner Next Week!
Last year, Adams kicked-off the holiday season by releasing the single “To Be Without You,” from his upcoming album. The Grammy-nominated singer had previously released “Do You Still Love Me?” followed by “Doomsday,” both of which were well-received. In an interview last year, he had stated that Prisoner’s music had been inspired by 1980s rock, including artists such as AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen.
Adams has also credited his divorce from Mandy Moore as influencing his work on the new album. The two had been married for six years before splitting in 2015. The “New York, New York” singer stated, “I started writing this record while I was going through a very public divorce, which is a humiliating and just a f***ing horrible thing to go through no matter who you are.” He continued, “To be me and to go through that the way that I did was destructive on a level that I can’t explain. So a lot of extra work went into keeping my chin up and remembering what I did and what I loved about who I was.”
Ryan Adams’ highly-anticipated album of 2017 has already received positive reviews from critics following the release of the three singles, “Do You Still Love Me?,” “Doomsday,” and “To Be Without You.” The 12-track song list is available for pre-order on iTunes and is expected to officially release on February 17, 2017. The “Come Pick Me Up” singer is known for being notoriously private about his personal life and judging from his song titles, Prisoner is being cited as one of Ryan Adams’ darkest albums yet. Since his debut record Heartbreaker came out in 2000, Adams has gone on to achieve mainstream success worldwide, and following Prisoner’s release next week, Ryan Adams’ $12.0 million net worth is only set to increase!
