“Book of The Stranger” Recap

After watching the full episode over and over, we know what it means when it is said that change is necessary. It’s very crucial for any show to keep up with the intensity by changing the scenarios so that other characters also get more attention. Why we felt that “Book of The Stranger” was a game changer is because it has not kept the focus on just Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), but it has also revealed how the lives of other pivotal characters are changing.

Sansa Meets Jon

It is the very first time these two legendary characters have met each other. Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) has finally met her long-lost brother, Jon Snow. The “Book of The Stranger” episode starts with Sansa, Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) and Gendry (Joe Dempsie) entering Castle Black and visiting the Night’s Watch members who guard the Wall. When Sansa arrives, we see Snow looking at her and instantly running down towards her. While he does hesitate when he comes in front of Sansa, she rushes towards him and they have a very adoring embrace. The embrace really feels like meeting your family after a very long time.

The episode also showed Sansa requesting Jon Snow to return to Winterfell with her. She wants him to come home as it is the only place where he belongs, but Snow knows that the Boltons won’t let that happen. Snow also knows that Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) has Rickon Stark (Art Parkinson) as his hostage, and will use him as a bait to keep their reign in Winerfell.

Daenerys Targaryen’s “Rebirth”

In Vaes Dothrak, Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) fate does not look great at all. But, that’s just what the Dothraki and the Khals think. Before going to the Temple of the Dosh Khaleen, Khaleesi also befriends a younger Dosh Khaleen (Hannah John-Kamen). While having a walk with her, Daenerys finds Jorah (Iain Glen) and Darrio (Michiel Huisman) as they plan a way to get her out of the fatal clutches of the Khalasar.

This is one of the most epic part of the entire Game of Thrones series and it’s to hard to top this one. Jorah and Darrio manage a way to keep the Khals barred inside the Temple. Daenerys then enters the temple asking for the leaders of Khalasar to accept her as the suitable leader of the Dothraki. The Khals insult Khaleesi’s ambitions and even threaten her that they would all rape her if she thinks they are not fit leaders. Listening to their threats, Daenerys calmly pushes over the pyres, burning the whole temple down. All the Khals get burnt inside the Temple, and the Dothraki’s gather around to witness it. Daenerys walks out of the fire alive, proclaiming how she is powerful enough to rule the Dothraki. Similar to the time when she survives Khal Drogo’s funeral pyre and comes back with her dragons, this scene resembles another “rebirth” of the Khaleesi by leading the Dothraki clan on her own.
