Rebel Wilson is taking time off from making people laugh to become their stylist. The 35-year-old Australian-born actress is launching her own fashion line in association with plus-size clothing company, Torrid.
Wilson posted a photo to Twitter, featuring her posing in front of a few mannequins boasting exclusive pieces from the “Rebel Wilson for Torrid” launch. She wrote below it, “So proud of this collection & super pumped that it’s available WORLDWIDE November 1st! RebelforTorrid @TorridFashion.”
While the Pitch Perfect star wore a deep red dress with a grey bomber jacket and gold shoes, the mannequins showed off bolder ensembles, with star prints and glitter. All of Wilson’s fans praised her for the work she is doing to get rid of body-shamers and unrealistic body standards. One user wrote, “You legend. Gosh you rock so hard,” while another recreated a meme and said, “Shut up and take my money.” Some even pointed out the notable resemblance between Wilson and British soul singer Adele. Fans also asked the actress-comedienne whether she was inspired by the Set Fire to the Rain singer.
In an interview, Wilson revealed that her size—18—was the reason she decided to get into clothing. She said that most of the plus-size clothing was not “cool or on-trend,” but more like something an aunt would wear to a wedding. So, teaming up with Torrid, she developed 31 pieces for her line that reflect Rebel, the comedienne with a law degree, and not Fat Amy from Pitch Perfect.
