For those not too distracted by all the love this Valentine’s Day, HBO is starting a brand new series that may be very much worth your time—the highly anticipated Vinyl HBO premiere date is this Sunday! And if you think you can’t be bothered starting yet another show this busy season, wait until you see who’s involved in this one!

Vinyl takes place in 1973 and stars Bobby Cannavale in the lead role as Richie Finestra, executive of New York record label American Century, which is going through some tough times; the series is focuses on Richie and his employees’ attempts trying to revive the company. Also featured in the show are Olivia Wilde in the role of Richie’s wife Devon, and comedian Ray Romano playing Zak Yankovich, the company’s head of promotions.

The music featured will be just as important as the cast, including the likes of Led Zeppelin, New York Dolls, and other popular acts of the era. In fact, the show has also made extensive use of consultants to make sure everything, from the songs to the clothes to the lingo, match the real-life early 1970s. Given that kind of in-depth research, there’s no doubt that most, if not every Vinyl HBO review will be positive.

Even before Vinyl, HBO already had an excellent track record with dramas, given they air the likes of True Detective and Game of Thrones, not to mention the huge success of past shows like The Sopranos and Sex and the City. However, none of its programming, past or present, has had a development like this one. In fact, you may not believe which two seemingly mismatched people first created the idea for the show: famed director Martin Scorsese and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger! The two first began planning the show in 1996, having originally envisioned it as a movie.

As we previously mentioned, the Vinyl HBO premiere date is this Sunday, February 14 at 9:00 p.m. EST—it will be a two-hour series premiere. And if you’re still on the fence come the show’s air date, don’t worry; we’ll be here with a full Vinyl HBO review following this weekend’s pilot episode!
