She Has a Mixed Heritage
Rachel Louise Peters was born in Bahrain to Nigel Peters and Annie Obregon and raised in the Camarines Sur, a province in the Philippines. This exotic beauty has a British-Filipino heritage. According to her bio, she’s fluent in English and Tagalog.
Born in 1991 she turned 26 this October. She shared a picture on Instagram holding her brand new Philippines passport not long ago. After Pia Wurtzbach, Peters is hoping to bring the Miss Universe title back home.
She took up international studies at the British School in Thailand and acquired her bachelors in business, tourism, and events from La Trobe University in Australia. After working in the events industry, she combined her love for coffee, the beach, surfing and interior design by opening a small café in Siargao.
She’s in Love
Sadly for those who are hoping this gorgeous woman is single, Peters is off the market. Her boyfriend is no ordinary guy either. Miguel Luis Villafuerte, or Migz as he prefers, is a Filipino model and politician. At only 28 years old, he’s the Governor of Camarines Sur.
He comes from a long line of politicians, his father being a Congressman and a former Governor himself. His grandfather was a member of the Monetary Board, a government division.
Migz defeated his own grandfather to become the Governor of Camarines Sur and took office in 2013. He was 24 years old then, becoming the youngest Governor in the history of the Philippines. He was re-elected in 2016.
Peters’ and Villafuerte’s Instagrams show that these two spend a lot of time together. From hanging out at the beach to handing out relief goods to Hurricane Nina victims. Now that his girlfriend is crowned the most beautiful woman in the country, he can’t stop gushing about her.
She’s One with the Ocean
If we break down Peters’ Instagram activity into categories, there’s dogs, Migz, and the ocean. The many posts on the leggy beauty’s Instagram will show her at home with the cerulean sea. She’s seen swimming, surfing, even sitting on a hammock in the middle of the sea, and her smile couldn’t be any brighter! She’s either hanging at the beach or hanging on trees at the beach. But she’s inseparable from the ocean.

Beauty with a Purpose
At the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, it was Rachel Peters’ Q&A that pretty much won her the crown. EU Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Jessen asked her, “This week, the Philippines hosted the ASEAN (Assocation of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit. If you were invited to speak, what would have been your message to the leaders?”
Peters answered, “I believe that one of the biggest problems that our country faces today is divisiveness – in politics, in religion, and also in culture. And I believe that it’s something that is the same across the world. And so that is something I would want to address. I believe that when people can learn to tolerate each other’s differences and respect each other’s opinions, then we will be a stronger nation and world.” That fits right in with the Miss Universe franchise’s “Beauty with a Purpose” efforts.
We know she has a way with words. When her evening gown for the Miss Universe pageant was leaked online, she was obviously upset. So she responded on Instagram like a Miss Philippines would —graciously.
In a stern yet dignified response, she wrote, “To whoever leaked pictures of my evening gown, thank you for teaching me a lesson about being more careful of who you trust. Not sure what your intentions were but no matter what, you’re not dragging me down.”
In the same statement, she summed up that it’s not about what you wear, “At the end of the day it’s not about the dress you wear, how you walk or even the element of surprise. What’s important is that you are kind and true to yourself… that’s when a girl truly shines!”
