Quentin Tarantino spent much of his teenage years working at a local video rental shop in Manhattan Beach. It was here that he first met writer and producer Roger Avary, whom Tarantino would later go on to collaborate with on several screenplays.

Tarantino’s first feature film was the 1992 crime thriller Reservoir Dogs, which depicted the events leading up to a diamond heist, and what happens after it goes horribly wrong. Despite receiving criticism for the disturbing violence and strong language in it, the film is still deemed to be one of the most significant contributions to independent cinema, and it turned Tarantino into an overnight celebrity. Today, his films are often characterized by a nonlinear storytelling style, unique plots, and graphic violence.

After Reservoir Dogs, Tarantino went on to direct Pulp Fiction in 1994, which became the first independent film to earn over $108 million in box office sales. He followed that up with the incredibly popular Kill Bill series. Tarantino’s two most recent films, Inglorious Basterds (2009) and Django Unchained (2012) each took home an Academy Award.

Tarantino has never been married, although he’s been romantically linked to several women in Hollywood, and has never been shy about his sexual escapades. In a 2009 interview with Elle magazine, he revealed that he once had a threesome with a girlfriend and her best friend, and that he remembered thinking at the time that he would’ve moved them both into his house if it were an option.

Some of Tarantino’s famous ex-girlfriends include actresses Mira Sorvino and Julie Dreyfus, as well as directors Allison Anders and Sofia Coppola. In true bachelor style, he also dated younger women, like Israeli singer Daniela Pick, who was 21 years younger than him.

Tarantino’s most recent relationship is, once again, with a younger woman. He’s dating film journalist Lianne MacDougall, who is better known by her pen name, Spiderbaby. MacDougall revealed that they met because of her upcoming book, for which Tarantino wrote the foreword. The celebrity couple first went public with their May-December relationship in December 2012, and was spotted vacationing in Mexico together the following month.

In July 2013, MacDougall was caught plagiarizing several of her online film reviews, and although she admitted to doing it, her famous director boyfriend made no public comment about the incident.
