Kathleen Manafort is a lawyer who graduated from George Washington University in 1979, a year after her marriage to Paul Manafort.

According to reports, the couple got married on August 12, 1978, which means that they have been together for more than 40 years.

She Studied Law at Georgetown University

Manafort earned her J.D. from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. in 1988 and passed the Virginia bar exam that same year. She was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar as well in 1991.

She has always been grateful and generous to her alma mater and donated money to it over the years. She’s been listed as a donor in the school’s president’s report in 1986, 1990, and 1992.

Paul and Kathleen Manafort’s Family

Manafort has two daughters with her husband named Jessica Manafort and Andrea Manafort, who were born in 1982 and 1985, respectively.

Jessica Manafort is a writer and director in Hollywood and was once married to real estate developer Jeffrey Yohai. A lawsuit was once filed against the former couple by a company called Genesis Capital, after they defaulted on home equity loans to the tune of $14.0 million.

According to reports, Jessica Manafort is working hard to further her career in Hollywood. She attended Tisch Film School in New York City and founded a production company called Mirror Cube Films in 2004.

Some of the films she worked on include Remember the Daze, A Shore Thing, and Liminality. She has been described in magazines as a person who “has a playful, whimsical manner, speaks charmingly about her close relationships with her family and friends, and laughs frequently and contagiously.”

Paul and Kathleen Manafort’s other daughter, Andrea, decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps and became a lawyer. She, too, received her law degree from Georgetown University. Andrea worked for several law firms before becoming associate general counsel in Washington, D.C.

She Owns Several Expensive Properties

According to reports, Manafort made several real estate investments, along with her husband. Some of the properties she owns include a Trump Tower apartment that she bought in 2006; a brownstone in Brooklyn, New York City; a condo in SoHo; a 1920’s single-family home in Arlington, Virginia; and a property in Southampton that was worth $400,000 in 1992.

The Southampton property is now valued at around $5.6 million. It includes 5,574 square feet of living space, a swimming pool, a pool house, a pitch-and-putt golf course, and a tennis court.

Manafort took out several mortgages for this home including a $150,000 mortgage from a bank run by Jaren Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner. She later received a $1.76 million mortgage from Thomas Barrack Jr., a close friend of Donald Trump.

On October 5, 2018, Paul Manafort signed a deed from his Virginia prison transferring his opulent five-bedroom mansion in Florida’s Palm Beach Gardens to his wife for a princely $10.00. The home was valued at $1.3 million.

Kathleen and her husband Paul bought the palatial Florida mansion in 2007 for $1.5 million and renovated it in 2011. The home was built in the 1980s in a Mediterranean style with stucco walls and red tile roof.

FBI Raid Came as a Shock

When the FBI raided the Manaforts’ home in Alexandria, Virginia, she was searched for weapons, something that came as a shock to her, even though this is standard FBI procedure.

When her husband was on trial, Kathleen supported him completely and was always on the front row of the courtroom during the multiple hearings.

Paul Manafort Is a Lucky Man

The former Trump campaign chairman is in big trouble now, and both he and his wife know it. The good thing for Manafort is that his wife has always supported him in all his ventures and is firmly by his side, even now.

Kathleen Manafort even stood by her husband when he was accused of having an extra-marital affair with a woman much younger than him some years ago. It looks like spousal support doesn’t get better than this!

Although it looks like that spousal support will be tested. On March 7, 2019, it was announced that Paul Manafort was sentenced to 47 months in prison (less nine months for time served) in prison for bank fraud and cheating on his taxes. He got off lightly. Paul faced up to 24 years in prison.

Less than one week later, on March 13, Paul’s prison sentence was almost doubled to an additional 43 months in prison; 30 months for conspiracy to defraud the United States and 13 additional months for witness tampering.

Minutes after that judgement came down, the Manhattan District Attorney filed additional state criminal charges, including mortgage fraud. While it is possible the president could pardon Paul for his federal crimes, he cannot be pardoned for state crimes. This suggests that Paul will be in prison for a long time, leaving Kathleen alone on the outside. Waiting patiently.
