It has now officially been confirmed that the cover of Playboy magazine’s last issue containing nudity will feature none other than Pamela Anderson. A glimpse of the steamy cover was released today and there’s no doubt that the 48-year-old actress looks hotter than ever. Anderson posted the cover on Instagram herself, writing, “15 Americans Covers… End of an Era @Playboy January/February 2016 double issue hitting new stands on Friday, December 11. It will be the final photo spread to feature nudity,” along with a credit to the photographer (Ellen von Unwerth) and the hashtag, “LastOne.”
With 14 Playboy covers to her name, Pamela Anderson is the perfect person to wrap up the magazine’s signature style of running of nude photos. But we think it would’ve been interesting to see one of these six other stars, who have surprisingly posed for the magazine in the past.
Today, we’re used to seeing her playing the All-American sweetheart, but Barrymore was featured on the cover of the January 1995 issue, back when she was kind of a wild child. Although her cover was relatively tame (she was pretty covered up in a high-neck t-shirt with the Playboy bunny logo on it), Barrymore was topless for pictures on the inside spread.
Judging by her career today, you’d never guess that McCarthy started out as a Playboy model. In fact, she was a Playboy Playmate of the year in October 1993. She since appeared on several covers, including most recently in 2012.
These days, Crawford is noted for modeling high fashion and launching her own skin care company. But she’s taken it all off three times for Playboy—first in 1988, then again in 1996 and 1998.
The actress was featured topless on the May 1999 cover. However, the photos were reportedly taken before her acting career took off, and she never wanted them to be published. Theron tried to launch a lawsuit to stop the magazine, but she ultimately lost. Although it’s safe to say it hardly put a dent in her career as an acclaimed actress.
Like Crawford, Campbell is known for being a designer fashion model. But even today, it’s clear to see why she was wanted for Playboy. The supermodel was featured on the cover of the October 2001 issue.
Doherty posed not once, but three times for Playboy. The first two times were during the height of her Beverly Hills 90210 fame (1993 and 1994) and the third time was in December 2003, two years after her other popular show, Charmed, ended.
