If there wasn’t enough proof to show how much of a doting dad Neil Patrick Harris is, now there is. Twins, Harper Grace and Gideon Scott, were born to the 42-year-old actor and his husband, David Burtka, via surrogacy in 2010, and Harris shared an adorable series of snaps with his 2.1 million Instagram followers in honor of his kids’ fifth birthday.
The first photo was of his two children standing in front of a huge cake custom-made by their famous fathers. Harper was dressed in a sparkly silver dress wearing a matching tiara, while Gideon donned a faux suit t-shirt and wore a gold crown.
Harris captioned the photo, “Happy 5th birthday to Gideon and Harper, the two greatest kids in all the land! (Cakes created and decorated by their fathers).” The post has received over 140,000 likes and a lot of fans sent their best wishes to the actor and his beautiful family. As one commenter wrote, “The perfect family strikes again.”
The next image, posted within minutes of the first one, showed Harper’s side of the cake, which Harris described as “Droids fighting princesses” on hills of what looks like sand. The last photo showed another close-up, this time of Gideon’s side of the cake, which had a spaceship that looked like it crash landed, and then more droids battling princesses. In the caption, The Smurfs actor wrote, “The droids were mostly winning, but princesses have gumption.” These last two photos gained more than 122,000 likes combined, along with praises of how Harris was “winning at life” and how his kids were lucky to have parents like him and David Burtka.

Clearly, his real life is a far cry from his famous playboy character on the hit TV show How I Met Your Mother. In the show, he played a womanizer with a love for expensive suits and one-night stands. Meanwhile in real life, Harris has been committed to his now-husband since 2004, which is a year before he was even cast in the show that eventually catapulted him into stardom. How I Met Your Mother ended last year, but his new variety show, aptly title Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, premiered on September 15—Harris serves as the series’ host and executive producer.
