Jessica Procter’s age is 21 and she is from Tuscaloosa, AL. Currently, she is a senior at the University of Alabama, where she studied interdisciplinary studies and psychology, but she put her education on hold to fulfill her duties as Miss Alabama 2017. She loves to sing, write songs, and help people. Procter dreams of recording music and becoming a counselor. “Whether it is part-time or full-time or paid or volunteer, I want to be in a church working … leading worship or working in a youth ministry or both,” she explains.

Like everybody else, Procter also likes to start her day with a hot cup of coffee. She describes herself as a big coffee addict, who had to limit herself to one cup a day. She loves avocados and says that her favorite meal always has avocados in them. Procter’s love of food shows in her passion for cooking. “My favorite thing to do is find fun recipes to create for my friends and family that are healthy and different,” she said. She promotes healthy eating, but still thinks that having the occasional cheat meal is not the worst thing in the world, as long as it is “what’s good for you in the moment.”

It looks like singing is in the beauty queen’s genes as Jessica Procter’s family, particularly her parents, were opera singers in Austria and Germany. Although she can sing in different styles, Procter revealed that she found her “central voice calling” while competing for Miss Alabama. She is a die-hard Disney fan and would love to be a Disney princess one day!

Fun-Loving and Charismatic

Although she now has a lot more responsibilities, Procter does not miss out on having fun. She said, “I went into my [Miss Alabama] interview with the goal of being myself … going in there being Jessica and being funny.” She added, “Obviously there is a time and place for everything, but I was going to go in there and be myself because myself is sometimes goofy and weird and making puns and what not. Regardless of whether or not I was what the judges were looking for, I know those judges met me.”

On June 10, 2017, Procter was crowned Miss Alabama 2017. In 2013, she was crowned Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen, and was the second runner-up at Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2013. She is now hoping to wear the Miss America 2018 crown!

A Caring Heart

One of Procter’s life goals is to leave people in a better state than she found them. In fact, for her efforts, she was awarded the Miss Alabama Catherine Crosby Long Award for her “Step up to the Plate” project, which she started in partnership with the West Alabama Food Bank. The primary goal was to raise funds and educate people about food insecurity and to fight hunger.

Talking about her community service, Procter said, “When they called out my name for the community service winner, it was like winning Miss Alabama honestly, because that’s something I’ve worked the hardest on this year and something that to me, I’d rather be recognized for than anything else just because that is not about me, with community service that’s the betterment of other people.”

Miss Alabama 2017 is not just blessed with a beautiful voice but a beautiful heart, too. She has a lot of potential to win the Miss American 2018 title. Jessica Procter’s Instagram account proves that she is a very warm person and is extremely close to her family and friends.
