Ryan Shazier is a married man! The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker tied the knot with Michelle Rodriguez on May 3, 2019, in a grand ceremony. While everyone is loving video of Ryan dancing at his wedding a year after spinal surgery, the attention is on the new Mrs. Shazier, too. Lucky for you, we have Michelle Shazier’s wiki for all the deets on the bride.

Michelle Shazier Is from Puerto Rico

Born Michelle Rodriguez on August 12, 1992, she hails from Ponce, Puerto Rico and was raised in San Antonio, Texas. Her parents, Felix Rodriguez and Zoraida Feliciano, are natives of Puerto Rico and have family in their respective hometowns.

Michelle came to San Antonio sometime before 2006. There, she graduated from Karen Wagner High School in 2010.

Michelle has at least one sister, Jennifer, and a brother, Felix Jr. On her Facebook and Instagram, she refers to one Aaron Warren as her brother as well. Warren was a baseball player at Texas Southern University.

Michelle Played Basketball

Michelle understands the demands of her NFL beau’s athletic life, being a former athlete herself. The 5’7” beauty was a formidable guard on the hardwood court when she played basketball throughout her student life.

At Wagner High, Michelle played varsity basketball and led her team to multiple district championships. In her senior year, she was rated one of the top 15 players in the area and was selected to play in the Senior Alamo All-Star game.

She went on to study exercise science at the University of Texas at Arlington from 2010 to 2012. She played in 27 games during her freshman season with the UTA Mavericks and was recording season highs during the 2011-2012 season.

However, she stopped playing basketball after freshman year. When an Instagram user asked why she quit, she responded that she chose to focus on her studies instead.

Michelle went on to study sports and exercise science at Texas State University, graduating in 2015. There’s no record of her playing basketball there.

Though she doesn’t play anymore, she loves watching a game when she can and supports the San Antonio Spurs.

Michelle Is a Teacher

After graduating from college, Michelle worked as a special education teacher. She was employed by the Judson Independent School District, which her former high school is a part of, at least until 2016. Her current employment status is unknown.

Michelle occasionally shared pictures with her students from her classroom. She also uses the platform to spread awareness about children with special needs.

Michelle and Ryan Married in 2019

Michelle mentions on Facebook that she has been in a relationship since 2012, and we’re guessing that’s when she met then-Ohio State Buckeye, Ryan Shazier. They were engaged in 2016, with Michelle sharing pictures from their beautiful engagement on Instagram.

They tied the knot on May 3, 2019 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with Shazier’s Steelers teammates in attendance. Sofia Vergara and Joe Mangianello reportedly were also among the guests.

A video of Shazier dancing at their wedding has since become a viral sensation among Steeler nation.

The newlyweds danced to “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan, and Ryan is seen waving his hands in the air in the clip. It’s significant for the Steelers and the Shaziers, given that Ryan had spinal surgery after suffering a devastating injury during a December 2017 game.

He had spent the entire 2018 season on the reserve list while pulling off a miraculous recovery. The linebacker and his then-fiancee surprised fans when he walked by himself at 2018 NFL Draft, and now he’s dancing at his wedding. Here’s hoping to see him on the gridiron once again.
