ABC News veteran personality, Sara Haines is best known for her work on Today, The View, and Good Morning America. Haines is pretty candid about her personal life, including her marriage with Max Shifrin. Sara Haines’ husband isn’t really a stranger to GMA viewers. Nonetheless, we have Max Shifrin’s wiki as a primer for the uninitiated.
He Has Russian Heritage
Maximillian S. Shifrin was born on January 18, 1983 and is 36 years old, five years younger than 41-year-old Sara Haines. He and his brother, Eugene Smelyansky, grew up in New Jersey.
Shifrin has mentioned a few times on social media that his parents immigrated to the U.S. from former Soviet Russia. Max grew up in a Russian household, which explains his fluency in the Russian language along with English and French.
He has sometimes shared anecdotes from his Russian upbringing, including hearing the expression “Don’t pee into the wind” from his father. He explained what that Russian expression means in a piece he wrote on Medium and how he lives by it.
My parents immigrated from the former Soviet Union, an undeniable shithole. They come in all colors.

He Met Haines on OkCupid
Haines has many times spoken candidly about finding love later than she planned. She always thought she would be married with kids by the time she was in her 30s. However, her thriving 30s had flown by and she was very much single.
She was on Today back then and a producer suggested she make an online dating profile for a segment and then delete it once it aired. Haines gave OkCupid a try and made a profile with the help of her brother and best friend. After the segment aired, she kept the profile to keep trying.
Eventually, Shifrin saw her profile. He messaged her and they decided to meet. However, she had to cancel when something came up.

Shifrin didn’t give up, though. He messaged her asking her out again. Haines tried to coordinate a group date with her brother and his boyfriend. But her brother didn’t get that message.
Haines said the group date was a little awkward. But Haines’s brother and partner stayed only for one round and left Max and Sara to chat. By themselves, they hit it off.
They began dating, moved in together a year later, and were engaged nine months later. Haines and Shifrin tied the knot in the Bahamas on November 22, 2014.
Haines also recommends therapy for couples and not necessarily for when things are bad. She and Shifrin go to therapy and say it helps them communicate better.
They Are Expecting Their Third Child Together
Haines and Shifrin welcomed their first child, a boy they named Alec Richard Shifrin, on March 5, 2016. Their daughter, Sandra Grace Shifrin, was born on December 23, 2017.
And baby makes five! The couple announced in January 2019 that they are expecting their third child together. The newest addition to the Shifrin brood is reportedly due in July.
He’s an Attorney at Baker Hostetler
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of Connecticut, Shifrin studied law at Brooklyn Law School. He received his Juris Doctor in 2010, before which he had already garnered plenty of experience.
While at Brooklyn Law School, he was the editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. In 2008, he was a judicial intern at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He later worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office as a student prosecutor.
After graduating, Shifrin worked at law firms in New York like Fried Frank and Storch Amini & Munves, PC. He has been with Baker Hostetler LLP since 2014.
At Baker Hostetler, Shifrin specializes in commercial litigation. He was on the team of court-appointed counselors to the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) Trustee for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. To put it simply, he was one of the many lawyers representing the victims of the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme.
