We’re sad to report that Mick Jagger’s girlfriend of 13 years, L’Wren Scott, has passed away. The 49-year-old fashion designer was believed to have committed suicide this morning (March 17, 2014)—her assistant found her body hanging by a scarf from a doorknob in her Manhattan apartment. There were reportedly no signs of foul play and no note was found on the scene.

According to police sources, L’Wren Scott sent her assistant a text message a couple hours before she was found dead, asking her to come by the apartment. Although the medical examiner has yet to release an official report, authorities are treating Scott’s death as an apparent suicide.

Scott’s sudden death has left the fashion and entertainment industry stunned, but no one is as shocked as her longtime boyfriend, 70-year-old Mick Jagger, who is currently touring with the Rolling Stones in Australia. According to a spokesperson, Jagger is “completely shocked and devastated by the news.”

L’Wren Scott enjoyed a steady rise to the top of the fashion world, but according to insiders, her business has taken a hit recently. She canceled her show for the London Fashion Week at the last minute, blaming it on not receiving fabrics in time. But some sources speculate that the real reason her show was scrapped was because her “business just crashed.” Insiders also noticed that the designer, who was usually very active on her Instagram account, had recently stopped posting as much.
