According to several reports at the time of their wedding, Meyers is an attorney. She studied law at Pepperdine University in Malibu.
Some reports claim that Meyers worked as a hairstylist in various movie productions. That, however, can’t be confirmed and the IMDb page of the hairstylist Lisa Meyers appears to refer to a different person.
It’s unclear if Meyers is a practicing attorney. Nonetheless, she is a proud alumna of Pepperdine where one of their sons, Johnny, also studied law. Kristofferson was present at Johnny’s bar admissions ceremony in 2015.

Meyers and Kristofferson Married in 1983
After the end of his second marriage to singer Rita Coolidge, Kris Kristofferson met law student Lisa Meyers in a Malibu gym in 1982. At that time, Kristofferson’s personal life and music career were in shambles, and he was reluctant to jump into a new relationship.
“We met at the gymnasium and we were looking at each other and I borrowed a piece of equipment off her, which was a ploy, I guess, because I saw something there that was promising,” recalled Kris.
Despite his initial hesitation, he hit it off with Meyers, who is 20 years his junior. They tied the knot in 1983, in an intimate ceremony in the Pepperdine University chapel. It was Kris’ third marriage and Lisa’s second.
The couple put off immediate plans for a honeymoon while Meyers studied for the bar exam and the Grammy-winning artist worked on his album at that time.

Kristofferson and Meyers Raised Eight Children Together
Kris and Lisa are parents to five children—Jesse (born 1983), Jody (born 1985), Johnny (born 1988), Kelly Marie (born 1990), and Blake (born 1994). Some reports claim that the five kids are Meyers’ children from her previous marriage. But that cannot be confirmed.
The couple also adopted three children from El Salvador. Their identities, however, are not known.

While Johnny, named after Kris’ friend Johnny Cash, is a lawyer like his mom, the other kids seemed to have opted for one of the many careers Kris has pursued. The Kristofferson Family Lives in Hawaii
Kristofferson owns a home in Malibu, but his primary residence is in Maui, Hawaii after he relocated the family there in the early ‘90s. They own a Japanese-inspired home there and Kris indulges in farming on their own stretch of land.
Together with his family, Kristofferson has suffered multiple health issues. From 2004 to 2015, he battled Lyme disease, which was previously misdiagnosed as Alzheimer’s. Meyers credited the correct diagnosis for her husband’s treatment and recovery.
