Here’s everything you need to know about this stellar actor.
Schreiber, nicknamed “Huggy” by his parents (Heather and Tell Carroll) is of German, Swiss German, Danish, Dutch, English, French, Irish, Norwegian, Belgian (Flemish), Scottish, and Welsh from his father’s side, and Jewish from his mother’s side. When he was a year old, their family moved to Canada where his half-brother, Pablo Schreiber was born. You may remember Pablo for his role as George “Pornstache” Mendez on Orange is the New Black. His parents had a strained relationship, and after a bad experience his mother had when she took LSD, she was never the same. Throughout the next four years, she was in and out of hospitals, and after his father threatened to admit her into a mental institution, Heather left Tell and took Schreiber, and were being hunted by private detectives. Tell even kidnapped his son at one point. While a custody battle ensued between his parents, Schreiber was introduced to the cello, and classical music by his grandfather. His eccentric, Bohemian mother worked odd-jobs and made puppets to support him and his brothers, after she won custody. He put up with her oddities but also credits her to shaping him into the successful man he is today. Now, a father of two, Schreiber is involved with British actress, Naomi Watts. The couple met when they co-starred in the 2006 film, The Painted Veil. They have two children, nine-year-old Alexander Pete, who they call Sasha (Russian variation of Alexander) and seven-year-old Samuel Kai. The couple have never confirmed whether they are married or not, though Naomi reportedly has a ring from Schreiber, but are a happy couple nonetheless. The couple recently starred in the biographical sports film, The Bleeder. Scheiber played the principle character, heavyweight boxer, Chuck Wepner and Naomi portrayed the man’s wife.
