Who Is Kody Brown?

Kody and Meri Brown’s Marriage

Kody Brown got married to his first wife, Meri Caroline Brown, on April 21, 1990. The couple has one daughter together named Mariah Brown.

They were expecting a second child, but Meri suffered a miscarriage in 2007 and did not conceive again after that. Meri’s struggle with having another child has been documented on Sister Wives.

Their daughter Mariah is currently in a same-sex relationship with Audrey Kriss. They got engaged in January 2019.

Meri and Kody Brown were legally married until 2014. That year, they legally divorced so Kody could marry his fourth wife, Robyn, and legally adopt her kids.

Although Meri Brown was once his legal wife, the couple is now spiritually married.

Kody and Janelle Brown’s Marriage

Janelle Brown is Kody Brown’s second wife. They spiritually wed each other on January 20, 1993.

Kody and Janelle Brown have six kids together: Madison, Savanah, Hunter, Gabriel, Logan, and Garrison Brown.

Logan Brown got engaged to Michelle Petty. Meanwhile his sister, Madison Brown, got married to Caleb Brush on June 4, 2016. The couple has a child together, Axel, who was born on May 20, 2017.

TLC announced in January that Madison and Caleb are expecting their second child together.

Kody and Christine Brown’s Marriage

Christine Brown is the third woman to marry Kody Brown. They were spiritually married on March 25, 1994.

The duo have six children named Paedon, Mykelti, Truely, Aspyn, Gwendlyn, and Ysabel Brown.

Aspyn Brown is engaged to Mitchell Thompson, while her sister, Mykelti Ann Brown, is happily married to Antonio “Tony” Padron. The pair walked down the aisle on December 17, 2016.

Kody and Robyn Brown’s Marriage

Kody Brown’s fourth and final wife is Robyn Brown. They were spiritually married on May 22, 2010, and have two kids named Ariella and Solomon Brown.

In December 2014, Kody and Robyn Brown were married so that he could legally adopt her three kids from previous her marriage. After they were wed, Kody officially adopted Aurora, Breanna, and Dayton in June 2015.

Kody and the Family Moved to Arizona

Before the series aired on TLC, the family kept their polygamist lifestyle a secret and were living in Lehi, Utah. However, they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2011.

The first season of Sister Wives prompted an investigation into whether the Browns’ polygamous marriage is unconstitutional. While polygamy is against the state law, Kody had not broken any laws because he is legally married to only one woman.

Nonetheless, the stigma and scrutiny their family was subjected to in their hometown led the Browns to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada in season 2.

In 2018, the family moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where the community is more open and accepting of their plural family.

Meri Brown’s Alleged Affair

Although everything appears to be fine with the Browns on the reality show, reports suggest there is trouble in paradise.

Reportedly, Meri Brown was involved in an emotional phone and online affair in 2015 with a man named Sam Cooper, who was actually a female catfisher.

According to a tabloid source, Kody Brown felt betrayed and never forgave his wife for it.

In late 2017, Meri Brown bought a Utah bed and breakfast and ended up moving out of their Las Vegas house. She reportedly only goes back to Las Vegas for family events or if there is filming involved.

Kody Brown’s Job and Net Worth

It was initially reported that Kody Brown would make ends meet by doing online ad sales work. However, it looks like he is no longer involved in that business venture and the family has been making money off their hit reality TV series.

In addition to the reality show, Brown and his family also earn money from their online retail side business. Brown’s wives have an online clothing and jewelry boutique called My Sister Wife’s Closet.

Kody Brown’s net worth is estimated at around $800,000. His salary per episode for being on the show Sister Wives was reportedly $50,000 in 2015. Meanwhile, his salary in 2005 was an estimated $3,900.
