She bumped into the dream machine, Pierce Brosnan in 1994 and it was a fairytale love story for the both of them. They got married and Smith, perhaps, found rather too much comfort in Brosnan’s arms, leading many to speculate that being the reason for her weight gain. Keely Smith feels deeply for the environment and is an avid gardener. She was an environmental correspondent for six years for ABC’s The Home Show, which earned her two Genesis Awards, a Special Achievement Award at the 1991 Environmental Film Festival, and a nomination from the Environmental Media Association (EMA).
Becoming Mrs. Pierce Brosnan
Love gave Pierce Brosnan a second chance in the form of Keely Shaye Smith. After the tragic loss of his first wife to cancer, Brosnan found happiness and solace in Keely Shaye Smith, who was then a former TV correspondent. After 16 years of blissful marriage, the couple are still going strong.
Smith met actor Pierce Brosnan on a beach in Mexico on April 8, 1994. After dating her more than 6 years, they married at Ballintubber Abbey in County Mayo, Ireland on August 4, 2001. The couple has two sons, Dylan Thomas Brosnan, 20, and Paris Becket Brosnan, 16.
Smith and Brosnan fight together for various social and environmental causes. From 1995 to 2000, they worked with the Natural Resources Defense Council and the International Fund for Animal Welfare to stop a proposed salt factory from being built at Laguna San Ignacio, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Smith and Brosnan work together to make the world a better place. The couple is committed to environmental education in the classroom for grades K-12 and currently, they sponsor long-time friend Jane Goodall’s “Roots and Shoots” youth and humanitarian program.
In Spring 2007, the couple also successfully fought the construction of the Cabrillo Port Liquefied Natural Gas facility, that was proposed off the coast of Oxnard and Malibu; the State Lands Commission eventually denied the lease to build the terminal.
In May 2007, the Brosnans donated $100,000 to help replace a playground on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. In 2009, the Brosnans visited the White House to help Congressman William Delahunt and Congressman Eni Faleomavaega introduce legislation to close loopholes on commercial and scientific whaling worldwide.
Then in May 2009, the Brosnans both testified in Washington, D.C., before the Environmental Protection Agency in support of the new Climate Change Bill (known as the American Clean Energy and Security Act).
In 2001, she was nominated at the Women in Film Crystal Awards for the first time in her life and also won it. She has been honored by Women in Film, The Natural Resources Defense Council, EMA, Earth Communications Office, Heal the Bay, Oceana, Senator Barbara Boxer, Malibu Times, and Organic Style Magazine for her excellent work towards the environment. One of her articles has been published in Los Angeles Confidential Magazine.
Recently, Pierce Brosnan’s wife celebrated her Best Documentary Film win for her work in Poisoning Paradise. She stepped out with her family at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival Awards Ceremony on February 17, 2017, at Regal Cinemas L.A.
