Katy Perry arrested for voting nude? That’s the headline that everyone is munching on at lunch today—but it’s not what you think. Katy Perry’s Funny or Die skit is the real story behind the news. The Katy Perry video was originally posted to the Funny or Die web site, but the video gained a lot of attention from Perry’s Twitter post. Don’t worry parents—the video has two large black boxes to cover up the stripped singer, so if you’re worried about your kids seeing Katy Perry uncensored and in the buff, you can relax.

The initial announcement for the post came Monday, September 26 when Perry posted to Instagram, “Tomorrow I use my body as click bait to help change the world.” That certainly got the Internet’s attention. She teamed up with Funny or Die and Rock the Vote to get people motivated to vote on November 8. The video was intended to get everyone, especially young people, to do their part in the political process. Check out the video!

The video started with her getting out of bed with candy in her frazzled hair, excited to head to the polls and vote. She rocked silk American flag pajamas and smudged makeup from the night before. She said, “Yup, I’ve briefly scanned the Constitution, and nowhere does it say you can’t just roll out of bed and come to the polls in whatever state you woke up in! In the name of democracy, any ‘just out of bed’ look is A-OK.” She then began to prove her argument by pointing out several “voters” and what they were wearing. These included a muscular man in children’s briefs, a girl with acne medicine all over her face, a man dressed like Scrooge, and more! To wrap it up, she tore off her clothes and began to suggest voters could even come nude, when she was interrupted by two police officers (actors) and arrested. Turns out you can’t actually vote nude—sorry folks!
