Actor, singer, and most recently a father to 8-month-old Silas Randall, Justin Timberlake is back to his adventures. The 34-year-old shared a collage of four images, showing him ice climbing with none other than Conrad Anker. To his 19.8 million Instagram followers, Timberlake wrote, “New year… New adventures. Went ICE CLIMBING today with the legendary @conrad_aker [sic].”
He went on to throw light on the documentary film, Meru which was about how Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk returned to an ice climbing spot after three years to finish a task that left them for dead in 2008. Timberlake was all praise for it saying, “If you haven’t seen #merufilm @merufilm then you HAVE TO check it out. Mind-blowing what these guys do with their minds and bodies. Amazing documentary and VERY worth the recognition it’s getting! Here’s to a great 2016 and THE ALL NEW! –JT [sic].”
What’s more, the post has received 220,000 likes so far along with comments such as, “Damn, Glad you’re safe!! [sic],” and, “Impressive! You really can do it all! You ROCK.” Couldn’t say we disagree with that! However, another fan tagged a friend and wrote, “This was the movie I was telling you about.”
The film has gained so much attention that it has been nominated for the “Favorite Non-Fiction Film” of 2015 category by the Cinema Eye Honors 2016 Audience Choice Prize. With nominees like Iris, Amy, The Wolfpack, and Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, the result is definitely going to be interesting.
Check out the trailer for Meru as we wait for Timberlake’s next movie, Trolls, in which we unfortunately won’t get to see his face. The Grammy-winning artist has lent his voice to the animated musical comedy which will feature the famous Troll dolls created by woodcutter Thomas Dam. It is slated for a November 4 release, co-starring Anna Kendrick.
