It’s a sad day for Bieliebers everywhere, depending on how you look at it. Yesterday, Justin Bieber took to Instagram to pen an emotional post explaining why he will no longer do meet-and-greets. But even though Justin Bieber’s meet-and-greet tour is cancelled, it may be the best decision the “Sorry” singer has made in a long time.

The Downside

You can almost hear the tears dropping from the eyes of Bieliebers around the world as they read Justin’s post on Instagram. Bieber starts off by saying, “I love you guys” before diving into a paragraph-long digression about why he is canceling his meet-and-greets.

“I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people’s spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy [sic],” the singer wrote. “Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression. [sic]”

Bieber went on to say that he apologizes but that he would “rather give you guys the show and albums as promised.” He said it’s his mental state that has pushed him to make this decision, and says he will give his fans the best show ever.

The Upside

Though some fans will surely be disappointed, this is probably best for Bieber. He’s been one of the most talked about, followed, harassed, maligned, and praised celebrities of this generation, though not without some small controversy (house egging anyone?). Reducing the frequency with which he’s in the public eye should give the singer some well-deserved time to himself.

His most recent album Purpose has received a lot of praise, and Justin sounds like he’s trying to stay on the good side of the media right now for the sake of his career. Good for you, Justin! Here’s to some more great music!
