With so many unsolved murders out there, such as JonBenet and Christa Helm, people often search the Internet to learn more on some of the most gruesome killers that the country has ever seen. One of them was Joseph Metheny, a serial killer with an unusual way of serving punishment. If you want to know more, then have a look at our Joseph Metheny wiki.

The Joseph Metheny Story

Joseph R. Metheny, also known as Joe Metheny or Joe “The Cannibal” Metheny, was an obese serial killer with a literal taste for blood. Joseph Metheny’s murders took place in the early ’90s, but his murders actually predate that all the way back to 1976! Metheny was one of six children belonging to his unnamed father (who was a laborer) and mother, Jean Metheny. According to the Baltimore Sun, Joseph’s family struggled to make ends meet and after he was born the family moved to the North Point Boulevard area of Essex, in Maryland. When Joseph was just 6 years old, his father died in a car crash, and it was extremely difficult for Jean. “It was very hard on me. I had to work to support the family, and I did everything I could to keep my kids together,” she said.

Joseph Metheny’s Victims

Metheny wasn’t just some random killer, it was how he killed his victims that makes his story so horrific. In 1995, Metheny lured prostitutes Cathy Ann Magaziner, 45, and Kimberly Spicer, 26, to his trailer, before eventually stabbing and strangling them to death. He then cut up their bodies and cooked them, serving them later as burgers to paying customers.

“I opened up a little open-pit beef stand. I had real roast beef and pork sandwiches. They were very good. The human body taste was very similar to pork. If you mix it together no one can tell the difference,” said Metheny in an interview.

According to The Sun, when he ran out of his “special meat,” he decided to lure another prostitute named Rita Kemper.

“I got her in there and started to rip her clothes off and knock the hell out of her. She was
screaming. I just kept on laughing at her,” he said. “I turned around for a split second. She ran out the door. There was an eight-foot chain link fence with barbwire on top of it around the front. There was a stack of wooden pallets next to the fence about 10 feet high.

“That b***h scaled those pallets like a monkey and jumped the fence, and ran
down to the main road,” he explained.

Kemper was one of the lucky ones, and made it to a gas station and called the police.

Joseph Metheny Confessed

Metheny was a known rapist and serial killer, and although he wasn’t found guilty at first, he later confessed to killing 10 women in the Baltimore area, and showed no remorse for his victims. In the early 1990’s, he was indicted for the murders of Kimberly Spicer, Toni Lynn Ingrassia, and Catherine Magaziner. According to reports, his death sentence was overturned for the murder of Magaziner in 2000, and he is now serving life in prison.
