Former pop star, actress, and entrepreneur Jessica Simpson might have a successful fashion line under her name today, but it turns out she wasn’t always as business minded in the past.
Simpson dropped in on CNBC’s Closing Bell on September 10 to commemorate ten successful years of her $1 billion fashion venture. On the business news show, she was asked what her greatest capital error was and surprisingly, she said it was her marriage to her first husband, Nick Lachey! Initially when host Kelly Evans sprung the question about her “biggest money mistakes,” the blonde beauty paused for a minute before adding with a laugh, “I don’t know. For some reason I thought of my first marriage!”
In case you might have forgotten, Simpson married Lachey, 41, in 2002. They were together for about four years and in that time the former celebrity couple had their own reality show on MTV called Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. Unfortunately, the two separated in 2006. And while Lachey, a former 98 Degrees band member, settled down again in 2011 with Vanessa Minnillo (with whom he now has two children), Simpson got lucky only last year.
The “I Wanna Love You Forever” platinum-selling singer dated Tony Romo and John Mayer before tying the knot with her current husband, Eric Johnson, also 35. They also have two children together, a three-year-old daughter named Maxwell and a two-year-old son named Ace.
Besides the show appearance, Simpson also celebrated her company’s impressive milestone in style by throwing a ritzy bash at the famous Tavern on the Green restaurant in New York’s Central Park.
